Bodyweight Challenge...

How many times can you bench and squat your body weight?

I was doing this contest last month that required you to do max reps of squat and bench with 185lbs. At the time i weighed 187lbs so it worked out as my body weight pretty much.

Lets see what e-stats you guys come up with....

Bench, maybe 2-3.
Squat probably 20-25 if I keep good form.
Not 100% on either as I've never tried.

Bodyweight challenge...

Bench your body weight
Run a 5K

Each rep is worth 30 seconds... 30 seconds x number of reps and subtract from your 5K.

For example, I can bench my bodyweight (175) 25 times. I can run a 5K in 18 minutes.

My Pump and Run time is 5 minutes 30 seconds.

The other format I've seen is where the bench press is a head start in the run. So for me I'd leave 12 minutes prior to someone who only bench pressed their weight 1 time.

My 401K is now a 400K (was 301K)

Does this thing apply to women who just work out on a regular basis? I know I could squat my weight, 147, probably a few times, but I think bench press would be a far away goal. I'm still with the bar + 20lbs at most.

I did bench the bar (45lbs. I think?) + 90lbs., just to see if I could do it. I actually did, and was pretty amazed.

I think I could probably bench my bodyweight 15 to 20 times. Squat, maybe 10-12 right now but I haven't squatted seriously in 6 months and I bet I would be in agony the next day.

only got 30 reps on bench though.
I thought i could get more on bench but i never do high reps so those muscles are weak. lol

never really tried, i dont like to go over 12 reps. but im 175, and i usually get 185 on incline bench for a set of 8. on flat i usually do 225 for 8-10, so i think i could get it 15-20 times. and squat probably 20 times atleast..

I'm at 185lbs. right now and think I could probably do 15-20 on bench, squats I know I can do 25+ with good form because I did 25 with that weight on Monday as a burnout.

I sure as hell ain't as strong as many people...but then again I'm not trying to pull buses or move buildings, just getting my strength back up

I am 5'6 and right over 160lbs. I did 22 reps at 165. Could have done more but no spotter today. Will try squats on Friday but I don't do them much to begin with. I have chicken legs, but I'm working on 'em.

At 225 lbs, bench 29, squat 35. Wore me out though, I did them back to back, I figure if I dedicate one day to each, I could get about 40, maybe 43 on the squat. No way I'm getting 60, my long ass legs were fried.

Even when i could bench 315 ibs twice i couldnt do it 20 times. Follow the link if you want to see what 225 ibs 33 times looks like.

I was just trying to make the point that telling a fib about how many times you can bench something will only short yourself in the long run.

If he can do it, I give him mad props and stand corrected. Im not asking for proof either. And I will be the first to tell you I couldnt do it either.

Go google 225 bench press nfl combine.

That's cool, i know he's a pretty strong dude. He post on our forums as well and buys supplements from me.
When i started this thread almost 2 years ago i was 187lbs doing 185 30 times. Now im 205 doing 225 over 20 times myself. All it takes is a good gym rat.

Lol. There's your problem, I was benching over 300 in high school and that was ten years ago. Although, I did rest for about a minute around 22 because I didn't have a spotter. I honestly don't care if you believe me or not. Without the rest, 23 may have been my max without a spotter, with one, probably 25.

I did 80lb dumbbells 50 times because someone on here called me out and I honestly questioned myself...if I could do them or not
(I was weighing 255 at the time, but now I'm about 235-240 with more strength).

I haven't been under a straight bar in ages,
so no telling how many times I can rep the weight out, but 20 would be a bare minimum.

I mean shit...who the hell else wakes up at 6:30am each Sunday morning,
just to go hit heavy legs(mofo's think I'm crazy up in there lunging 100lb dumbbells that early!!!)!

Im about to hit the gym hard again. Took a week off to recover and am ready. I am gonna do 225 for reps on bench and squat even though I only weigh 200lbs. Then again at the end of one month to track progress. Ill post the results from the first lift monday, with a video if I can get my camera working.

Back when the NFL was doing the challenge I did 225x19 on bench with no spotter.

I'm not sure how many squats I could do with 225, but I may try tomorrow, it's leg day.

I'm at about 218 lbs right now.

That was an epic fail.

I haven't done real squats since before I tore my ACL in May of 2006. I was able to get 15 with 225, but my form started suffering so horribly that I racked it. My left leg doesn't want to go down as far as my right (good) leg.

I guess I need to spend more time on the rack. I'll have to wait a couple of days and see if the knee agrees with the movement first....

... I only have one arm so how could I fit into this? My dumbbells at the gym top at 150 in which I can do 12 of... *my sets never exceed this with heavy weight*

Now before would have been a different story. last time I ran 3k for time I was 224lbs and ran a 17:36. also did an easy 20 pull ups and 100crunches in 2 min.. (Corps PFT) for 300pts

I now weigh 202lbs and could squat that elentymillion times. lol

I know this is an old post, but I never train anyone under a straight bar... So good on you, I like hearing that shit
