Well, I seem to be stuck.......

Well, first off, 4 years ago I was 300 lbs. I got divorced, started running, watching what I ate, and quit the sodas cold turkey. I lost 72 lbs in about 10 months. I was 228, and it seems when I started dating again I got back up to like 242, and was working out on a regular basis for about 8 months. Well, that slacked off, but i began trying to run again on a consistent basis. Back down to 232, but I feel stuck. I eat OK most of the time, but am a sucker for sweet tea and chik fil a....Dont really alot of fast food.....Any suggestions?? Maybe step the running 5-6 nights a week to 3 miles per night?? Im currently doing 3-4 nights at 2 miles a night.. I also do a little light weight in the garage at home.............

That's great that you are now 232 from 300. What is your goal?

Guarantee your problem is 90% diet. For starters, I bet you are not eating 5-6 times a day of quality food. For a while at your weight anything you do will shed pounds, but when you get to a sticking point.."eating ok" will just make you stagnant.

I agree on the diet, I dont eat 5-6 times a day....Iv'e tried, but never stay with it. i eat 3 times a day, but usually breakfast is my worst meal (health wise) of the day.

Yep, the sugar in that tea is keepin' ya plump. If you are "eating OK most of the time", but aren't writing it all down, then you have no idea what your daily intake is. "Eating OK" is fine if you aren't looking to get ripped, but you've got to control how much of thst stuff that you are eating to get your weight down. Losing weight is a ver simple formula, calories in < calories out.

it is probably time to really get serious about it if you are really wanting to improve from here. you can go a long way using a half-assed attempt at nutrition and a decent exercise routine, and it looks like you have have done that part already. Now it is time to tighten up on the nutrition and see where that takes you.

Cut out the sweet teas and lay off Chic-fil-a for a month, and fit in the 3 extra snacks of quality foods and see where you are after a serious effort for one month. If you really stick to it I bet you will be supprised at the results, and that should motivate you to continue doing better and better.

good luck

I would suggest running more miles like 4-5 miles instead of 2 miles!

winner of 5 out of 9 at the 2007 spring cruise!
winner of 2 out of 4 at Redline 7/21/07
winner of 4 out of 5 at the 10/21/07 fall cruise!
2009 spring cruise- won 1 out of 2 races!!!!!!
2010 spring cruise- 4 wins 2 losses but only raced 1 guy on my list and as usual couldn't find the others!!!!

RIP Roy Sebastion Fraga "lil' Roy" born december 7th 2010 gone back to heaven december 7th 2010 you will always be in our hearts and thoughts my special little grandson.

Fat free yogurt
fruit
beef jerkey
non-fat cottage cheese
baby carrots
low fat peanut butter
bagels
english muffins

There are plenty of healthy choices out there, just be mindful not to ruin them with fatty/sugary sauces, dips, spreads, etc. A baked potato goes from being a heathy staple to a heart attack in a snack when all the standard crap gets piled on top.

Well, depending on if you are gettign enough protein, you could slam a protein shake and some wheat bread for a snack, or if your EFA's are low, you could have a handful of peanuts or other nuts.

I do a smoothie that I make in the mornings and put into a cooler for snacks -
raspberries, milk, protein powder, peanut butter, yogurt. yummmm , and I eat a slice of wheat bread.

Some people take boiled eggs to eat for snacks.

Making an effort means jack shit. Either you do or you don't. Now put some balls into this. How bad do you want to get into shape? If you're fine being an average guy then do that. But if you really wanna be in shape YOU gotta make it happen. Not make an attempt. All that tells me is you're reserving an excuse for yourself. It's not that hard to eat right. Food is for nutrition not personal pleasure. Eventually (assuming you do more than "make an effort"), you'll get used to eating healthy and enjoy it. Then when you eat unhealthy you'll actually feel sick and realize how nasty that shit is.

Time to get on track. Enough of the weak ass excuses...make something happen.

A couple more food snack suggestions:

raw steel cut oats...(yah I know, but you get used to it) they are so good for you. AND don't ever be without wheat germ. oz for oz, it has an immense amount of good things for you. Put it on cereal, oats, sandwiches etc....besides, when you are eating healthy, it can satisfy your need for "crunchy" stuff.

Does granola qualify as a healthy snack?
