A cup isn't bad, but drinking alot of coffee can be. Not so much in hindering progress in the gym, but the caffiene is bad for your heart/nerves, and it'll color your teeth.
Many OTC supplements have caffiene in them, I don't think they'd market the stuff if it kept people from making progress.
