How much water is to much in a day?

Ever since my kindney stone ordeal i've walked away from the Soda & Coffee, I work outside in the heat Allday so I've been trying to up my water intake, my goal is 100-130 oz of water a day, I've been getting about 150+oz the past few days. I seem to feel alittle better and it seems to curve my snacking on junk food. I don't Think I'm drinking to much right now but I've had A few people say be careful and not over hydrate?

as long as you are sweating good then i wouldn't think there is a thing as too much. unless you are just forcing yourself to drink, that might be a problem

If he works in the heat all day, I dont want that office job.........lol.

But in all seriousness....

I dont think theres a specific amount of water to drink, because of your body size and it being different from other peoples, but you should stay very hydrated. If you work in the heat all day, I wouldnt drink any less than a gallon per shift.

And most likely, since you're sweating so much, you'll be pissing it out as fast as you drink it. I work in the a/c all day and I drink about a gallon, but the downfall to that, is about 6 bathroom breaks a day, sometimes more.

I get hot but I defiantly stay on top of the water now, I put down 3 20 oz bottles before and 3 after lunch, then when I get home I'd say it's Safe to say I get at least another 40-50oz before bed. only down side is that I wake up around 3:30 every morning to pee.

one way to judge on how hydrated you are is the color of your pee. basically when your pee is almost crystal clear you are completely hydrated, but the more/darker yellow it is the more you need to drink water

Dude, there is no such thing as over hydrating, unless you are the dumbass doign the water drinking contest. Drink as much water as you can, and then drink some more. You should have to take a piss every 30 minutes.

Here is an interesting read about water intake.

Basically: drink when you are thirsty. Don't guzzle gallons at a time.
