How often should I take supplements? I just started on them so I have been taking it right before I work out. I want to take enough to do some good but I dont want to put on fat because of it. I am using amplify the guy at gnc said it was the most popular.

What's in "Amplify"? It's active ingredient(s) will determine when it's best to take it.

can't find it on GNC's web site, but looks like it is just a protein smoothie that is pretty expensive....

I cant criticize, I blew a wad of cash at GNC buying something that was overpriced.....but it seems to be working at least. Lost 5 lbs in one week. This is the lightest I have been in probably 7 or 8 years.

it took a little searching but I came up with this about Amplify.

it is made by NDS Nutrition

Amplify is a 100% Cold-Filtered Whey Protein containing essential amino acids and 20 grams of protein per serving. It mixes instantly with a spoon or shaker so you have no messy blending or clean up. It is low in calories, carbohydrates and lactose suitable for anyone with milk allergies. Amplify Whey Protein is known to be the superior whey protein in its class.

Available in: Tropical Banana, Creamy Chocolate, Cookies n Crème, Strawberry Passion, Vanilla Cream

Key Ingredients: Cold-Filtered Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate
and Hydrolyzed Whey Protein

The nutrition data pic was little and fuzzy but I came upw this from it:
Calories 130
fat 3g
chlorestorol 50mg
total carb 4g
Protein 20g
calcium 200mg

General rule of thumb.....protein is protein is protein. Take any kind, and lots of it. At least 1 gram for every pound you WANT to weigh. The best way to lose bodyfat is to keep the supplements to a minimum. ( a good multi, creatine, and maybe aminos) and eat 6 meals a day.....good meals. You will drop weight immediately. Most people just don't want to go to the time or trouble. Stay away from stimulants..they may work at first, but can weaken heart valves, not to mention thin your blood way to much due to the thermogenic stack, willow bark, caffeine and ephedrine. Just my opinion as a trainer.

And oh yeah, MOST of the GNC employees just parrot what they are told. You are better off researching at bodybuilding dot com for info. Good forums over there. <--- no wimps allowed
