Tried it? Fuck that.

But I did read this a while ago... and then I laughed when I thought about myself doing it.

Quote:
Before you head out to see if you’re good enough to pass the 300 test, heed the caution from William J. Kraemer, PhD, professor of kinesiology at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. “This [program] was done for a stylistic effect, to look like a Spartan," he says. Forget about trying to do the graduation test right out of the box, he says. "The out-of-shape person who starts [the 300 graduation test] is going to be dead the first day. No one could do this without prior training. You have to progress."

Even if you start out slowly, Kraemer recommends proceeding with caution and checking in with your doctor first.

The breakdown of muscle fibers, for instance, may be severe enough to be toxic to the kidneys, he says. "If you have [heart problems] or are not screened, you could have a variety of exertional problems [with this workout], from serious tissue breakdown to heart attack to kidney problems," he says. "It's too extreme for the average person."

Walt Thompson, PhD, a professor of kinesiology and health at Georgia State University in Atlanta, agrees. "This kind of workout is for a very, very small subset of the population," he says. "The person who could probably benefit from the Gym Jones workout is the person who already has a long and extensive 'career' in exercise. It's not for a beginner."

Everyone keeps talking about the 300 workout and its not really a workout. The cast of 300 used it as a "test".

The actors did alot of shit during their training at Gym Jones and this was just one of the things they did (and only did once.)

Here is alot of background from the person that designed the "300 workout."

True.

And most of the people that took it were stuntmen. Only half of the training class took it, and only one of the main actors took the test. He did it in 18:11.

50x Box Jump @ 24” box +
50x Floor Wiper @ 135# (one-count) + <== Floor Wiper @ 1-count?
50x KB Clean and Press @ 36# (KB must touch floor between reps) + <== KB?

Is this a timed workout or something that is supposed to take hours to complete? What is the diet they are talking about?

Pretty sure the "+" is to mean 25 pullups... plus 50 deads... plu 50 pushups, etc.

KB = Kettlebell

Yes, it is a timed workout. Do all of that as fast as you can. The only actor (as opposed to stuntman) to do the test did it in 18 min 11 sec after just 5 weeks of training at Gym Jones.

As for the diet. Don't know specifics, but did read this:
Quote:
Everyone was given just enough food to recover from the workout, he notes.
Quote:
The diet was adequate to fuel effort and recovery, barely.

Interesting, as i kept reading, this "300" work out was only a one time thing, it isn't a routine as to the trainer said he changed excersises daily? I would be intrested in trying something like this if i knew what the exact details were. I will try and find out some more info and post it.

Check out http://www.gymjones.com/

This is where they trained. He has some videos up on the site and lots of information about how he trains people.

Very uncommon way to train but looks like alot of fun.
