I just put the Ipod on shuffle, but I need to create a "gym" playlist, I hate when a slow song comes on in the middle of working out.

Sorry, don't know what I was thinking, my brain must have fell outta my ass. You pretty much summed up what I would listen to, there is a little of all of that in my playlist.

alright. sounds like some questionable music taste in here, but to each his own.

I just like borderline hard stuff (most of it isn't all that hard actually) to work out to...mostly because I hate most metal out there.

When I'm lifting I listen to:

a lot of Nine Inch Nails
a lot of rage against the machine
the Deftones
Toadies
Some 311
Ted Nugent
Bush
Harder incubus stuff
and then a lot of other random songs

When I'm running/biking/shooting hoops:
a lot of 311
toadies
foo fighters
incubus
lots of random crap

I know it sounds gay but...

Mozart, Beehtoven, Bach, Vivaldi. Vilvadi's "Four Seasons" is probably my fav.

Its the only time I listen to classical music.

I don't want any words going through my IPOD's ear buds to distract my internal words.

My 401K is now a 400K (was 301K)

That's why I listen to bands who mostly scream/growl, their voice is more of an instrument than actual words. Pumps me up, I listen to it when racing, or riding the bike hard also.

HOMO!

But seriously, I have been known to "rock" the classics in the gym as well. Something about it is peacful yet highly motivating.
Dvorak - Symphony 9 (New World Symphony) Mvt.4 is my favorite right now. Or maybe some Liszt or Tchaikovsky... greatness.

Otherwise it's the old standbys. Clutch, Metallica, BLS, etc.

Will do. There are quite a few more on the list and I rotate them out about once a week.

Gershwin, Handel, Ravel, Stravinsky, Schubert, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Sebastian, Brahms, Frederic "Fucking" Chopin (Tombstone, gotta love it), Elgar, Mahler...

1/2 the time I don't even know what I'm listening to. Like I said I don't really study it I just like it when training.

I'll throw in some Rachmaninov. Should have some Tchaikovsky influence to his work.

Mozart is probably the predominant one on the list as it is my youngests favorite. Believe it or not it came from watching those damn Baby Einstein DVDs. When she is having her "alone time" in her playroom Mozart is always jamming. This is right before you start hearing her singing:

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
'Cause I ain't no hollaback girl

That's a good one to raise her on.

Mozart, Chopin, and Rachmaninov are easily my three favorite composers. I have never listened to them while working out, but it does make horribly good sense...I may just have to try it.

*Edit: Let me recommend Prelude in C Sharp Minor by Rach. There is a version recorded from him on a player piano, so you can actually hear him playing it. He is the only one that gets the timing right. The guy was like 6'6'' so he had hands that could reach a thirteenth.

Thank god for music appreciation class or I would have been lost in this conversation.

May have to try some classical music too. I like Vivaldi as well.

I mainly listen to Haystack, Everlast, and NWA (FTP)!!

Personally, I like instrumental music when I workout because it's something that takes my mind off the pain, but I can still concentrate on what I'm doing. Metal kinda makes my mind go in different places when I work out, and rap makes me laugh sometimes which is never good during the middle of a rep. That's just for lifting though. I like a little "Godspeed! You Black Emperor" type shit when lifting.

Gotta have a little more energy with cardio. Tool and The Mars Volta are great because the songs are long, and you've been going for 6-8 minutes before you even know it, and that's just one song.
