Inverted leg press issue

I was on the inverted leg press and tried some range of motion.

I brought my knees to my chest and did about 10 reps with medium weight(for me).

After I finished, I could feel a little pain in back around my lower ribs. Not very
painful, but some soreness.

I went back on the inverted leg press and took the weight off and tried the same
range of motion and noticed that my butt comes off the seating pad and my middle
back is supporting the lift. I think my ribs were under some pressure and that's
what caused the soreness.

I suppose that I need to keep my butt supporting the weight during the lift, and
not bring the legs up unto my chest as much.

Anyone else using this machine with some insight?

Well for one, your not supposed to bring your knees to your chest.
And two, your back and butt are not supposed to move at all, keep them planted against the pads through out the entire movement.

As far as the soreness goes, it's probably your spine being a little agitated(sp) from the stress of the weight combined with the imprpoer form you have used.

Joe.

lack of hip mobility caused your back to round to get your knees to your chest.

Exactly. Start stretching to increase range of motion, and only go as far as your hips allow. The point of the sled is to get weight off your spine, bending it like that defeats the purpose.
