It's not the lack of cardio and probably not the diet either. Im 5 11 @195lbs and have a nice 6 pack. I dont eat all that well and have cut down on cardio the last few months too.
It takes some time, just keep pushing yourself and it will all flow together.

I think it has a lot to do with how much gut you started out with when you began losing weight. I'm 5'10" and started out last August at 215, had a 38 waist and a disgusting gut. Now I'm down to 165, a 32 waist, and my body is starting to define itself, but I still have a belly. My upper abs are starting to show and my love handles are almost gone. What's left sits above my belt line up to my middle abs. Several people have told me that area is the last to come off and it would take a long time to get rid of it. It didn't get that way overnight and it won't go away overnight either. You need to stick with a low fat diet and get at least thirty minutes of cardio in 4-5 times a week. Try and do your cardio first thing in the morning, but it's been said before, afternoon or evening cardio is better than none. Stay focused, it will come off eventually.

I'm 6'0 and when I get above 170 my abs disappear. It depends on your body type. If you are a small frame, then 1 lb of extra fat is going to look bad but that same 1 lb on a large frame person will not show up as much. You can work your abs all day long but diet is what makes them show. How are you eating habits ?

It's funny how no one has mentioned genetics. Did everybody get brainwashed by all of the ab-roller commercials?

Genetics is the excuse for those that aren't willing to work hard enough.

Granted, genetics can possibly keep you from winning the Mr. O., but it won't keep you from 10% bodyfat.

when i was at my leanest i was doing a circuit only 2 times a week....consider i weighed 185 and was 8% body fat...now i am 205 and around 15 i am going to get back to that here soon. Try mixing up your routine. Do something different each time. Your body is very smart and adapts very quickly...Trick IT

Fat cells

I read once that its relatively easy to shrink fat cells, but actually eliminating them takes more time. I am sure someone with more knowledge on the subject could help with this. Total BS?

Eliminating them takes liposuction, not time.

yup. That's why it's easy for people that lose a lot of weight to blow back up.

well I am just getting started with working out, but they did mention that I'd want to change up my routine regulary, because your bodily eventually becomes acclimated to the workout and gets no further real benefit other than maintaining the weightloss achieved up to that point. Once you plateau like that, I'd think if you swapped things up a bit you'll start to see more progress again.

Far be it for me to say that's good advice, but it makes sense to me, and if I'm wrong this is where I find out to avoid any future errors

Everyone can have a six pack if you get your BF down. It's not so much how you work them but what you eat. The question is how much strength do you want to trade off for having your abs show.

You don't have to lose strength to get don to 8-10%. It's simply a matter of eating the right foods at the right time, and getting just enough cardio to stoke the fat-burning fire. Impatience is what will cost you strength.
