Exclamation Glue Me...

Back together, k?

I've a right shoulder long thoracic nerve injury, well so they say... the nerve was ripped in half and has not fused together yet (this happened 5 years ago) The shoulder constantly has pain, weakness and scapular winging. In the end my shoulder is absolutely and completely unstable. Also some damage at the rotator cuff, but it was believed to have healed.

Solution... I built up all the muscles around it to make it good and strong...

DE-solution... I lost a LOT of mass when i left the army and now all the muscles i had to hold my shoulder back together... vanished... Now I'm having a stabbing pain any time i move or rotate my shoulder in any way. The numbers the VA doc gave me for my range of motion are (this is when my shoulder is 100%)

rom severe pain at movement (normal)
180 100 Flexion (180)
180 100 Abduction (180)
90 0 Ext. Rotation (90)
90 70 Int. Rotation (90)

Anyone have any ideas on potential methods of therapy? As of the moment I've NO strength in it at all i've movement from elbo down otherwise the pain is a sharp stabbing all threw out my shoulder.

So IDEAS?

Oh, well shit, there's your problem.

Getcha some Gorilla Glue. It'll fix ya right up.

BTW. Fuck that. It sounds quite painful (the tearing of the nerve, that is).

You need to find a different physical therapist.

They are going to know a hellalot more about your injury than the DFWStangs medical team.

Ask for references.

I interviewed three different ones when I ruptured my achilles tendon (full open surgery) back in October. I was being pigheaded but my first thing I asked them was, "I don't want to wait 9 months before I can compete again. I want to start running in a month."

This was 6 weeks after surgery and two days after cast removal. First two wouldn't touch it. The third told me he'd treat me aggressively but if I "broke" again it was my fault.

I PT'd for one month, every day, three hours at the clinic and an hour on my own and was running again before the end of December (should have been April of this year). I stopped walking with a limp as well by the end of December (which they say will take at least 6 months).

I finished my comeback race on February 17th. Nothing spectacular but I did finish.

The good ones are out there you just have to find them.

My 401K is now a 400K (was 301K)

My doctor at the time of the injury worked for the dallas cowboys I thought he would be sufficent... but he only fixed me for like 4-5 years. And I understand completely about the ankle injury, i was rehabbed for mine for 7 months in the army. Then they sent me home saying it is jacked up forever WTF. But I'm running and stuff agian
