Cardio

Alright, well in place of a hard work out today, I decided to hit up the stationary bikes at the gym after doing some light upper body work.

I biked about ten miles. I think the time was around 25 minutes or so.

I've been trying to get back in shape and lose the beer gut, and working out hasn't made any of that go away, although i'm definitely stronger and more toned.

I'm just wondering if biking 10 miles every day or every other day will help me lose the fat.

I know for me, 10 miles on a stationary bike is not enough, going 10 miles on a real bike would be alot better and burn more cal. If your gym has a spin class DO IT, they are great and work the shit out of your legs. I have always had the opinion that machines dont do anything compared to going out side and doing something.

Eliptical Cross Trainer

Get on that bad boy for an hour @ least 150 steps per minute. You will cover
about 4-5 miles....
If you want to lose some weight here's what I do:
Find your resting heart rate....sit or lay for 15 minutes. Check your arterial pulse for ten seconds and add a zero to the end. This is your RHR(resting heart rate). Go to this website and put in the info requested regarding age and RHR
http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heart.asp
The website will give you your minimum and maximum Training Heart Rate.
Mine is 125 to 141...
Anyway if you put in an hour a day for 3 days a week. You will lose the "beer Gut"

Seriously, get your diet in check, or you'll be hitting your head against a brick wall.

I HATE the stationary bikes! I mean,I can be on those for 10 minutes and only burn like 50 calories. I do the elliptical machine, the "skier" (not sure what you call them),and the treadmill(at different times). If you burn atleast 600 - 700 calories,5 days a week, you'll see the difference. Doing crunches everyday will also help.
