Holy crap that seems like a lot of calories and carbs. Not my thing but I'm not looking to gain mass so I'll stick to my usual 1 scoop of Vanilla muscle milk and 1 scoop strawberry ON Whey gold standard in 12oz of water. Tried adding liquid CLA but it comes lemon flavored from VPX so that is out. I just hate swallowing the big ass capsules CLA comes in.

On the Shake subject, what about using "Slim fast" type shakes in combination with a good workout routine to lose weight and build muscle? Can you still get enough nutrients to stay healthy and not deprive your body? With a good meal of course.

Slim fast isn't really going to have enough protein to build muscle by itself. I used to drink them in between meals just to get extra calories. I have a really fast metabolism though. They're alright if you're getting enough nutrients from your meals and supplements I guess. I wouldn't depend on them though.

I've been using them as snack fillers, instead of eating junk food. They have helped the hunger cravings. lol

That's good. You shouldn't be hungry though.

I had one this morning and it was good.
900 cals from the oats...
90 from the banana
210 from the 2 tbs natty PB
250 from the flax seed oil
90 from a cup of skim milk (why go skim milk at this point, lol!)
200 from the protein

1740 calories

To each their own I guess.

1740 calories?

Well, I usually leave out the PB and the oatmeal is only 450 calories. I don't always use flax in the shake either...

450 from oats
240 from flax
90 from milk
200 from protein
100 from banana

That's only 1080 by my count. And without the flax oil it's only 840. Throw the PB back in and it's just under 1000. Even if it was 1740 that would still be okay for my diet.

I did it in my head so you may want to check the containers!

I workout anywhere from 10-15 hours a week (and peak at 18 hours some weeks) and there is no way I could work off 5K calories a day.

Good luck on getting big! Just not my ball of wax.

How big are you now?

My problem is my metabolism. If I don't eat a lot. I will lose weight like crazy. Plus I am in an indoor soccer league Sunday nights. Basketball on Tuesday's. I would say I work out around the same amount of hours as you.

I was at 185 at the end of 2005. I weigh 255 right now. I am 6'6" though. It's hard even maintaining for me....

Ah... I can see your delima. I'm 6' 1" and about 180-185. Towards the end of summer I'll be at race weight of about 175.

I use to have your problem but I've seem to beat it when I turned 40. haha. No I look at food and the calories enter my body.

I burn about 1000 calories a day in exercise currently, add in about 2200 calories for general day-to-day living and I'm about "even" at 3000-3200 calories per day.

I got a few things I want to accomplish next December (like run the Sunmart 50 miler and Dallas Whiterock Marathon the same weekend) so it wil be interesting to see my calorie consumption (and if my body will hold out!) in the fall. I should be doing about 90-100 miles running per week but don't want to get down under 175. I'm pretty sure I'll be upwards to 4000 calories per day to maintain.

Damn, that's a lot of running. If I ran that much I would be back at 185!

I'm only 23 so my metabolism is still really high. Hell, my brother is 30, he eats very crappy and he is VERY lean.

Good luck with the marathon stuff. I would be more worried about my feet blistering up running that much in one weekend.
