You will see a decrease in as little as 2 weeks. After a month... you lose of alot.
Endurance training increase stroke volume and extended rest quickly decreases it. You still need as much blood circulating to do the same amount of work so you heart has to work harder (i.e. to more beats to pump the same amount of blood)
Good news is it doesn't take too long to "get it back" to the level you were at prior to the rest period.
My 401K is now a 400K (was 301K)
