Nice shoes!

I need some comfortable shoes for the gym. Right now I have some Nike Impax. They are too narrow for my foot (wide, not much arch). They felt good when I bought them, but I can not wear them for hours on end without getting bad foot cramps... and on a bike they will make my feet hurt and toes tingle after 30 min or so.

Any recommendations?

Oh, here's what brought this up:

My neighbor is a firefighter. I know he has a squat rack, bench, and other stuff in his garage and works out in there most of the time.

He also does stuff in the park right across the street. Just now I saw him carrying a few plates across the street... presumably to load up a sled and do some sprinting/running in the grass.

But as he's walking back and starts stretching against his truck I notice he's doing all of this in some raggedy ass red Chuck Taylors Fucking greatness.

Asics are the only way to go. I can go throw a pair of nikes in less than a month. But asics hold up alot better and are very comfortable.

For squatting...skate shoes are pretty kick ass because they're anti slip and completely flat on the bottom. Not too great for running. New Balance Cross Trainers are going to be excellent for running and lifting....and come in wide sizes as well.

Yep, flat soles provide more stability.

You do not want to lift heavy lower body on really cushioned running shoes, they're too unstable.
