Progress in 04?

Everyone is saying what they want to do this year. What progress did you make last year?

I've been working out for around 10 months now and have gained 33lbs and went from benching 170 to 330. I've pretty much doubled my strength in every exercise. Thanks to Texas Gym!!
I wish i had some before pics.

Post up your progress...

my year was ok... i started getting REAL strong in jan.. got up to repping 365x15.. and then re-injured my shoulder. Back down to 135.. finaly recouped it and my last outting of the year i put up 405x12 and 455x5 the 150s on incline for 12.

this year im shooting for bigger numbers.. at 20-30lbs less body weight.

Grayhorse congrat's on your accomplishment but are you using 2.5 lbs to add on to your sets a lot?

Last year was kinda a wash for me due to a severe diet last summer that got me nice and lean (down to 185), but it zapped my strength to next to nothing because I ate way too little, and lost weight way too fast. I hit the highest bodyweight in my lifting career in December (215lbs), and I had the best bench yet (315 for sets of 7, taking nothing but protein powder), but way too much bodyfat came with the quick strength gains. This year I am taking it nice and slow. I want to rep 315 for sets of 10 reps, and maintain no more than 10% bodyfat. I'm guessin' that'll put me at about 195 to 200lbs of body weight, but I don't have a specific target weight.

I wasn't consistent enough to see many gains. My bench went from 345 to 375 and I dropped about 20lbs of fat. Lots of room for improvement.

After a messed up shoulder and and numerous back injuries I was finished the year benching 405x8 and a 485x2 goal. I did my best deadlift ever at 675lbs. My new goal for this year is 550-575 bench and 750 dead.

On exactly the opposite end of the spectrum from you right now actually. I haven't had more than 1800 calories a day since the beginning of the year, and I've been doing sets of 12-15 for everything (250lbs on flat) to get that blood moving and those calories burned. Don't worry, I'll be back up to reppin' 315 in a matter of a few short months, I'll save the 140's for incline.

I've actually kinda backed of on being big these days. It's cool and all to be big and strong, but I'm thinking that it's time for a little balance. Being lighter will actually help me out on the wakeboard, and though I know they are out there, I have yet to meet a girl that has told me I need to get bigger. They usually say exactly the opposite. *shrugs*

Congrats on the new best, I've been down that path and it feels great to see improvement like that.

I've kind of moved in your directions too Got Boost?. I'm already a pretty big guy, but now I want to get leaner. It's difficult for me because I feel like I am shrinking away into nothing.

Theres definitely a mindfuck associated with leaning up, unless you take your sweet time and lose only like a pound a week it's almost assured that you will lose a little lean mass, and the calorie deficit alone will make the poundages go down. Just keep hittin' it hard, the decrease in strength is temporary. Once you lose the fat that you want and start eating a few more carbs muscle memory will take over and bring you back to normal. Just don't do what I did and start pigging out to try to get the stregth back, fat comes back muuuch easier than lean mass will.

I had a good and not so good year. I got up to 204lbs. I'm 6'1 and never lifted really hard...Just ran a lot and tried to keep the body fat off. I did get up to 320x3 on the bench though. I injured my back and dropped down to 179lbs at my lowest before I could start to hit the gym again. I tried to stay with a good diet. But after 5-6 months of not doing a whole bunch really kinda hurt me.
This year I'm doing great though!
