I'm so sick of being fat!

That's it! I'm losing this fat once and for all. And I'm gonna do it with no supplements...except protein. I plan on adding more cardio and staying where I'm at with the weights.

Does anyone know where to buy this electronic gizmo for getting BF %'s? I don't have access to anyone with the calipers.

Although I do check it, my goal is not weight but more so inches.

You can find electrical impedence scales anywhere. Try Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, or some place like that. They are good for measuring progress, but not all that accurate.

If you get an electrical impedence scale make sure that you only check it first thing in the morning before drinking anything. That is the way that they are most consistent. I bough some "bad-ass" electronic calipers that are supposed to be super accurate. But I can take a reading 5 times in the same spot and it is different every time

I'll check those places out. My 1st goal is to get from a 36-38 waist back to 32-34 comfortably.

Currently 184 lbs

5' 4"

I guess realistically, I'm more flabby around the waist than "fat"...if that makes sense. (I know, it's still fat). It's not that 186 is bad, but for my height and the amount of flab, it's obvious there's room to lose.

Easy, less calories and more cardio.

My buddy who is 6'4" went from 210 to 175 eating 1500 cal a day (AND NOT CHEATING) and running a reasonable amount.. 20-25 min (3ish miles) a day).

I am 6'2", and went from 168lbs to 152lbs on a similar diet. eating quality food, but keeping the calories down. I am now back to 168lbs, but LEAN MUSCLE.

We both had to lose weight that was a LOT harder to lose, because neither one of us were even close to "fat". At your weight, if you stick to a good diet and run, you will lose the weight quickly.

If your 5'7", you do need to cut weight. You nailed it on the head with cardio. Make sure you work everything else though too, it helps burn the fat. 150-180 should be good for you. Those 6' something people at 150-170ish are way too skinny, don't be discouraged by their weight. I'm 5'8" and vary between 150-160 (which is about right) and that equivelant would be if I went to 110 or 120.

Take care

<-- 6' tall 210 lbs.

I lost 31 lbs in a little less than 3 months doing low carb. It worked great for me and most of that weight loss was with no exercise. Now I am running / walking 2 miles a night and working out my upper body. I still want to lose another 30-40 lbs though. Good luck on losing it!! Some people can lose it so fast it rolls off of them, but other people have a hard time losing just a few pounds. After the holidays are over with I am going to get back to eating the way I was.

That's what I am thinking. I am 6 inches shorter and 40lbs heavier, and I am just now getting to be a size that I am happy with. It's all about perspective though, not everybody wants to be a "meathead".

I am 6' 215. I would like to lose about 10 pounds or so. I have a stocky build also.
I dont see how someone could be 6' and weigh less than 190 and look healthy or have any muscles whatsoever

it's called a small frame.

some people's bodies can look right at those weights, if they aren't very broad.

i'm a fat fuck, 300lbs 6'4", so i need to get down on some cardio. Too bad i hate it with a passion.

george,

trying lighter weights, and work more on technique. make sure if your working your lower abs. your hip flexors and back muscles are not being used as much as your inner abdominals. the key is toning. even though your a guy. aerobics, bicycle riding, and yoga can all help what you might be looking for. but if that sounds to gay. try martial arts. great workout pyshically, but even better mental workout. keep the mind clear, and the body will come with it. promise

I'm 5'7" and weigh 174 with 14% body fat. You should get a body fat analysis and see how much muscle you have under the fat to determine where you should be weight wise.

I heard that yoga and palates will work the inner abs, I'll have to find a few moves I can do in my spare time. I've actually been thinking of starting some type of martial art. Sounds fun and if I can whip an ass or two in the process then that's a plus, lol.

So far I'm at 182.5!

back to 184.5 It could just be muscle and water retention though. I've been hitting the weights harder than I should for a fat/weight loss goal. It's just too hard for me to get in there and lift light weights....I feel wimpy. Of course to most guys, I am pretty wimpy.

lift heavy weights! building muscle helps you burn fat. if you want to lose inches/fat keep hitting the heavy weights, keep your overall calorie intake down but be sure to get your protien in . In order to do that, you must eat lean protien sources such as turkey breast, tuna and whey shakes. Make sure you the bulk of your calories(carbs) are the right carbs- from whole wheat products. If you look carefully, you will find stuff you like that is whole weat. bread is easy, but also they make 100% whole grain waffles(no syrup!!!) and I like low suger cinimon toast crunch(100% whole grains).

I had to lose some weight the last 3 weeks because of the required weight i need to be at next week in the Canary Islands for racing. my muscle building had put me over the weight I needed to be, so I cut back from 3000 calories(ish) a day to 1500cal a day and 20min of cardio or a weight lift session almost everyday.

dropped the weight needed no problem. but MAN is it tough to only eat 1500 calories a day!!!!

I'm 5'10 211lbs looking to lose about 20lbs which would put me just over 190 and looking no where near skinny. It's all about your particular fram and more importantly your perception of your own physiqe. Then again, you are 3 inches taller so you'd need to carry a little more muscle to fill out your frame.

As far as feeling sick and weak... Trust me, I will be feeling quite weak. Last sumer I dieted down to 185 and was benching 185. THe abs only kept me satisfied for so long before I freaked out and had to go heavy again. I'm gonna try and do it a little slower this time to keep the bodyfat from creeping up while I put that strengh back one.

In the fitness game patience definitely is a virtue.

boost-
i know, crappy feeling. I have found that I can JUST survive on 1500cal. I am hungry, but I dont feel sick or anything. If 1700cal is making you miserable, step it up with a couple healthy snacks in between meals. maybe a banana, or some no fat potato chips. another 200 calories, in 2 small snacks between other meals could help a lot. But remember, losing weight is not easy, and you certainly arent going to feel satisfied (food wise).

It does get easier. a 6" sub wouldnt even come CLOSE to enough for me, but now that I have been eating only 400ish cal a meal, my body has gotten a lot more used to it. dont forget that if you cut cal content a lot, your body can slow your metabolism- the best way to stop this is to do cardio. I get bored, so I keep my cardio sessions to about 20-25min. about 2.5- 3 miles for me(jogging)

I am now keeping my Calories to 1500 a day. I am working out on an Eliptical machine doing 30 minutes on that for about 3 or so miles. I am doing better on the Eliptical than I was running around the neighborhood. I am not near as out of breath as I was before.

I'm down to 36" pants now. woOT! 38's are definitely too big!! I also quit taking the elevator. I work on the 3rd floor and occasionally have to see other people on other floors in another building so I get quite a good stair climbing workout at various times during the day.

Next goal....34's

Congrats dude...I know where you're coming from. At the beginning of last year I decided I needed to drop some weight too, I was right around 175, but I'm only 5'5" (I'm mexican too). Now i weigh 132, I bought this book and started working out. It was supposed to be a temporary thing, but it turns out that I actually enjoy working out so I stuck with it. Good luck!

It is called the Testosterone Advantage Plan, you can find it on amazon. The diet is pretty good too, you eat 4-5 meals a day and it includes like steak, burgers, chicken, and other things. The other thing that helped is that it comes with charts for the workout program so it makes it easier to stay focused and track progress.

Does anyone know where to buy this electronic gizmo for getting BF %'s? I don't have access to anyone with the calipers.

Although I do check it, my goal is not weight but more so inches.
Screw the electronic gizmo bullshit. If you want to accurately check BF there are far better measures(submerged water). I say judge by the mirror, not the scale. As someone above stated you may be loosing fat, but gaining muscle in place of it. If you want to check bf, buy yourself a set of bf calipers and do it yourself. Not the most accurate, but you will be able to take the readings in the same place each time and be consistent which will give you your fat losses and you will not be paying someone $10-$15 each time you do it. DO NOT get on the scale every day! Check yourself maybe every two weeks at the most. Consistency is key. Diet, training, and then everything else. Good luck and keep us posted.
