A vitamin/multi-vitamin will not give you energy after a workout. Just try eating a good meal (eggs, toast, etc...) in the morning about an hour before your workout, and a little something afterwards (yogurt, protein shake, etc...). I not saying don't take vitamins because they are very good for you, just they will not energize you.

He's right, eating a good balanced meal will give you the energy that you need. Eat several small meals throughout the day instead of 3 big ones. As for a multivitamin, I personally take Ultra Vita Man from Vitamin world. Gives me everything I need plus alot of other supplements/herbs that men need for basic good health.

If you want to have any energy AT ALL after workout I would recommend eating something with a decent amount of protein after workout. I know you aren't trying to gain any weight or anything, but your body will be starving for energy after workout and it will begin actually tearing down muscle in addition to fat if it doesn't get some protein (start buying protein bars, or make shakes, or eat some eggs after workout, anything). As for the vitamins I haven't really done research on those, listen to Moondog or I also heard something about the GNC brand one a day vitamin (really good supposedly).

Actually Carbs are fuel(energy) for your body, and your body goes for the fastest available source of energy and protein breaks down faster than anything, but this only happens if your training is intense and you use up everything stored in your body first. If you eat a sufficient amount of protein and carbs before working out you should have enough protein, carbs, and aminos in your system so that your body doesn't self destruct. Just make sure you replenish your body after your workout. Listen to your body, if you feel hungry for something like pasta your body's telling you it needs carbs, same if your hungry for steak or chicken your body probably needs protein. It will tell you what it needs don't ignore it.

Pwebbz28, yes an egg sandwich (one of my favorites) is a very good meal before a workout, and yogurt has a good amount of good carbs to give you energy after a workout. Just remember to combine carbs and protein in every meal one without the other is pointless.

You're right, I was just thinking about your body eating itself after workout. Carbs do give you energy, but without protein you will still lose muscle mass in the long run.

Like I said, I get the Ultra Vita Man from Vitamin World. I am not sure if they have one in Denton or where the closest one would be. But you can go to http://www.vitaminworld.com and select Store Locator to find one near you, or you can just order online. I think right now they have a sale, 200 tablets for $12. Also, on the first Monday and Tuesday of every month they have a buy one and get one free deal.
