How long between lifts?

What's a safe time frame between workouts? I worked out last night from 6-730, and was going to hit the gym again sometime in the early afternoon. Is this safe, or should i give myself a day or two in between workouts?

TIA

You should give each muscle group about 4-5 days rest. But what you can do instead is workout a different muscle group each day (Chest, back, legs, etc).

All of my biology teachers have taught the same thing. If your muscles are completely rested before you work out again, then your original workout was near pointless. No pain no gain is true...to an extent. I work out 5-6 times a week usually. I used to work out 2 times a day back after highschool but I would over exhaust myself and have to take a few days off because I'd always be tired.
