How much can body fat % change in 1 day?

So I know they aren't real accurate, but I have a Tanita scale that also measures body fat. Like I said, I know they aren't the most accurate things in the world, but supposedly they will always false the same on a given person, so your % may be off, but the gain or loss will be true. So my question is this, mine seems to fluctuate several % in a day every once in a while. This isn't even possible is it?

Thanks,

i believe that if you workout... or drink a bunch of fluid it can cause it to change the readings.. cant remember.. been 7yrs since i messed with those things.. id say do it the same time every day.. only in the mornings when you first wake up.. before you eat or drink anything.. may get more accurate readings that way

I've got the same scale and it will fluctuate throughout the day. Typically, it will be higher in the morning when you're body is hydrated. It will be the lowest around 5-6pm. I usually see a 1-2% difference from the highest to the lowest.....So of course I monitor my bf% daily at 5pm...makes me feel better! hahaha!

If you could quantify your water satration that may be true, but an electrical impedence scale will be directly effected by retaining or losing water. Yes, your body fluctutes several pounds throughout the day due to water weight, giving you the different readings. Your best bet is to weigh once a week on the same day and at the same time of the day. If your diet and fluid intake is pretty steady, that will be the most accurate measure of progress.
