just joined a fitness center

i joined a fitness center last night and worked out a little bit. i want to drop about 30 more lbs and get in shape and build some muscle. they open at 5:30 a.m. how much would it help getting up early before work and working out and then going again at night as opposed to just working out at night? or is once a day enough?

I usually get up and do my cardio in the morning. That way, after work, I can hit the weights with more intensity. It works out great for me.

You can't put syrup on shit and call it pancakes.

If you can manage twice a day you'll reach your fat loss goal a bit quicker. If you aren't in a hurry and want to add a little lean mass I'd recommend doing cardio in the morning and then going back for free-weights at night.

It's not a bad idea if you have the time to do it. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, that's commitment. During his early years of training he'd be in the gym AT LEAST twice per day. I agree, cardio in the morning and weights at night.

You cannot gain mass and lose weight at the same time. High calorie intake is a must for building muscle. Usually winter time is the best time to gain because of the cold weather and baggy warm clothing. I always hated gaining in the summer because when you get heavy, heat kills you.

Also, do not do ANY cardio what so ever when trying to gain muscle. Only work out once a day for 3 days a week using high reps with low weight. Once your muscles adapt you feel stronger and confident you can start working out 4-5 days a week on heavy weights with short reputitions.

Arnold started using steroids at age 16. He also had dedication. You build muscle mass during rest. Rest and sleep allows muscles to rebuild themselves stronger and buiold more red strands. Cardio , example long distance runners are skinny because they build white muscle strands from doing cardio. So do not do two things in one day. If you want to do cardio set aside a couple days to do and thats it.; no weights if you want more muscle.

Which fitness center did you join Matt? If I knew you were wanting to start working out, you could have just come over to KC and worked out for free with me.
