Upper Body Question...

Okay we maxed out in PE today and my upper body is SOOOOO weak! Obviously I dont need alot of strength in my arms to dance, but damn if I didnt feel retarded leg pressing 400 pounds, but only being able to do 45 on the shoulder press.

So how do I gain upper body strength without looking like China?

I'm a George Strait junkie.

well (1) you realise how much muscle you would have to gain to look like china i dont think you are at risk.
(2) which of your upper body muscle groups do you want to make stronger? upper body consists of chest, shoulders, back, bi,s tries, and forearms.. take yoru pick

Like WL said, you've got a looong way to go and a bit of juice to squeeze to look like Chyna. Don't be afraid to bust your butt under some free weights, you won't swell up over night. Keep your reps in the 15-20 and make it burn. Here are a few basic
upper body exercises and their respective bodyparts:

lateral raises - shoulders
upright row - shoulders/traps
bent over row - back
skull crushers - triceps
curls - biceps
flat bech - chest/shoulders/triceps
pulldowns - lats

There are plenty more exercises/variations for each muslce group, but these are a good stating point to find the areas that you want to work the most.

OMG Aaron, I only worked out 3 hours ago and now I can barely lift my arms!!!!

Dammit all to hell!! Im so sore. Shoulder presses make my arms immobile

But we did the sit and reach test today and Im the most flexible in my class hehe. The chart goes up to 24 inches and says that is excellent flexibility and I had 25 3/4 inches hehe!

I think it is pretty sick to see swinging skin where there should be a tricep.


The Burn is good! Just don't quit cause you don't like the pain.
It makes my arms/chest or whatever I worked out the day previous feel better if I stretch them pretty good while they are burning. I don't know if this is a good thing, But it def. makes me feel a lot better.

lol!! the nice thing is that chics can get defined arms pretty easily. I have been doing upper body for years now and i don't look like some body builder. you won't get ultra big, that is a myth that women will get that big from average use of weights. i do a ton of free weights, including bench, flys, shoulder press and curls.

arms, for me anyways, were the one body part i saw results on the fastest. give it a few weeks and you will already notice a difference!
