Can liquid stretch your stomach?

I've been trying to drink a gallon of water a day. Main reason is because it keeps me full and away from food. But, can too much liquid in your belly stretch your stomach? I want my stomach to shrink so I don't eat as much, but is this helping or hurting?

TIA!

No worries Steph, a gallon at one sitting would be a problem, but a gallon a day is actually good for you metabolically and for your urinary tract. It goes through your system quick enough that stretching isn't really a factor.

Your stomach can hold 2-3 quarts of fluid/solids at a time (average person).

Since a gallon of water is 4 quarts, you shouldn't have to worry about stretching your stomach.

It is better to ingest about 6-8oz at a time, as that is all that can be processed at a time, in terms of hydration.

Forgot...

Drinking water isn't necessarily going to stop the "cravings". Your body is fairly efficient at giving you a craving for the nutrition it needs, regardless of how full you are.

But, a gram of fat requires 4 grams of water (3 or 4 grams) to metabolize in your body, so keeping hydrated allows the fat burning process to be efficient.

Sucks doesn't it?

I'm in my official 1 month, no alcohol binge. Do it every January.
