DirecTV HD box

I called DirecTV, they said Fry's, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy carry them. None of those three stores in Plano had them nor knew where to send me. Where can I actually get one (with the card)?

n/a

Yeah, it's there, but I can't get it to tell me which store actually has one.

Those stores aren't carrying them any more there are places online that do. Why don't you just get one from Directv either way it's a leased box now, if you buy one at best buy it is still their property.

DirecTV said I had to buy at the store. Although I see you can buy it on their site, I was hoping to have it Monday.

Fuck yes, I keep thinking about going back to cable because its so slow. I hit the guide button and it takes 4-5 seconds for it to pop up, then try to page up or down and same thing it's annoying as hell.

Do you have the DVR box? I asked my tech about this and he said the more shows you have saved, the slower it performs. I got my DVR box probably 2 years ago and instantly noticed its slow speed compared to the non-DVR one.

FIOS is not much better. Plus, as mentioned, the more recorded material the slower it responds. I've noticed about a 4 second delay on the DVR box compared to the regualr HD box. We have 3 TV's, one is a DVR, and you can watch the same show and hear the difference between them. Guess recording it slows it down a tad with the cheap ass hard disks they use.

We just signed up for direct tv and the installer told us that those stores no longer carry the boxes for some reason and that it just stopped a little over 2 weeks ago?

When we upgraded to the DVR box, they never said anything about sending our non-DVR box back, so it's sitting in a hall closet. Do they even know I have this thing? It's been 2 years.

I HATE, HATE.............HATE Direct TV !!!!

We had Dish Network and I loved it.

Direct TV stalls left and right, when you fast forward your DVR and then push play, its delayed about 15-20 seconds or more behind, where you stopped it. For instance, when your fastforwarding and you see where your movie resumes after the commercial and you push play, it starts back in the middle of the commercial before the movie resumed.

Direct TV will not go to the closest channel when you try to manual enter a channel. All you get it a beep and a window pops up that says "Channel not available" Dish Network will automatically move you to the closest channel to it.

I read in the manual that they are programmed to do that. If you fast forward on speed 1 it will start right where you hit the button, anything above speed one and the box assumes your reaction time sucks.

Yup FIOS does that too. You hit FF x 4 and it has about a 1 minute lag. When it is skipping along that fast and you hit PLAY or STOP, the recording has already gone way past that point, so it "goes backwards" to start playing.

Apparently the boxes were pulled from the stores (all of them) about two weeks ago. You now MUST go through DirecTV for them.

I never have a problem with this on any of my receivers. I FFWD on X3 and as soon as the show starts again I hit play and it automatically backs up about 10 seconds and starts from there (usually about the end of the last commercial).

My HD DVR receivers have been slow as shit lately, but it usually speeds up and gets back normal after a day or two. There's actually some extremely troubleshooting and tech advice on the DTV forums on their website if you ever run into issues.

My original DVR box harddrive died so i called them and they say there gonna send me another.

1st replacement - wrong box, non hd,i call them back, they confirm it was the wrong box and will send me another.

2nd replacement - its the same exact box they sent me last time, i call them back, bitch, they plan to send me another replacement and confirm again it was the wrong box...

3rd replacement - its finally an HD-DVR ... but they forgot to send me a sticker to send back the 2nd replacement they shipped me ..

oh and to find out this DVR only records 1 tv channel at a time instead of recording 2... WTF

Its been two weeks and they still havent sent me the sticker to send back the 2nd box, i'm gonna call today to tell them they sent me the 3rd wrong DVR.

No cable, Dish, U-Verse, or DirecTV for us at present.

Off-the-air with a TiVo DVR FTW......do miss NFL Sunday Ticket though.
