Best Home projector under/around $1000

Looking into buying a 1080p projector and 100in "fixed" screen soon.

Wanting to stay under 1500 total.

To all that know , what should i look for.

My room is going to be dark also.

One day at a time.

A projector is not a cheap endeavor. They will cost you money constantly. You cannot get a decent 1080p projector for $1000 yet. The cheapest I could recommend is a Mitsu HC3800 @ $1,300.00. But honestly, I think you should also be looking into a 720p projector to save you money. Resolution isn't everything. I have always been partial to Optoma projectors. Remember to think about everything involved first though. You need a projector mount, 40ft of HDMI cable, wire in a ceiling socket, a good screen, proper lighting, and possibly proper seating - and room dimension/obstructions.

If you were a baller I'd recommend a JVC DLA-RS20 1080p High Definition Front Projector. Best I've ever seen demoed, but are about $7K

Take a look through the Crutchfield online catalog. They've got mid level stuff that's pretty good.

However, you are going to be hard pressed to find a truly good 1080p projector in that price range. They just aren't cheap. Period.

i think the best bet under 1000 is a mitsubishi 720p.
your 1080p are more like 1500. optoma is fine, mitsu is fine, panasonic is nice.

im a huge fan of the sony sxrd 1080p projectors around the 2500-3000 range. probably what i will get my bulb hangs on for another year.

I'd take a look at the epson 8100... you're not too far off and it compares pretty well to the old panny ae3000 and my mitsu HC6500...

Here's a deal for you:

http://www.homeprojectorsystems.com/...y_EPSON_HC8100

$1290.49... these were 2k when I was shopping last year.

1800 lumens
36000:1 contrast
1080p 3LCD Projector
