Finally joining the HD age.

I know, we're stuck in the 90s. Neither of us are big TV watchers, so we haven't been that motivated to upgrade, but I figure it's time. Anyway, after some quick research I've decided on a LCD because it'll be in a bright room, but I'm not quite sure about the 60/120Hz issue.

I read that the 120+ stuff is recommended for gamers and the like, but I'm not sure how important it would be for our purposes, as most of our watching is general programing and a few movies a month. The price difference isn't that important, but I'm just not sure if it's of any benefit to us?

Any purchasing advice is welcome.

The 120Hz is to clean up the motion blur and macroblocking that can occur during fast action sequences. The 60Hz LCD's have a reputation for doing that.

if it going to save some decent cash, go with 60Hz.
i'm not a fan of 120 Hz and 240 Hz TVs at all.
the 120/240 Hz is fine by itself but i know sony and samsung seem to couple that feature with their motion filter.

that motion blur filter RUINS the look of movies. everything looks like a documentary.
everyone i know with 120/240 pretty much leaves it turned off.

You're right, which is why it's time for us to upgrade. If my life was consumed by purchasing the latest and greatest, I'd be buying 3D. And it'd be a very shitty life.
