Frys in Arlington just got 5 more in yesterday. I went and picked one up. They didn't have a 50" hooked up to check, but they did have a 40" hooked up. It wasn't set up where I could really compare picture quality with the other sets and it needed to be adjusted to make it look right. It was as if they didn't want to sell them. Anyway, knowing I could return it if it sucked, I went ahead and bought the 50". When I got it home, I was initially disappointed in the picture quality, escpecially compared to my 6 year old top of the line Mistubishi DLP. Especially on broadcast TV. The black levels didn't have enough depth and the colors were too overblown. After a while of tweaking, it looks much better. The skin tones, which are my pet peeve, still don't look right to me, though. They are way too soft and blurry. On the Mitsubishi, you could see the pores and facial hair. Almost like looking through a window. The Samsung has nice colors, though. Since it took me 2 months to get the Mits adjusted right, maybe I can do the same with the Samsung. It was definitely worth the $600.
