Any Ideas About TV Sound?

About two years ago I bought a cheap Dynex 32" HDTV from Best Buy, I think. Anyway, the picture is still good but all of a sudden there isn't any audio. Anyone ever have this happen? I can't figure out if I could put some external speakers on it and make it work or not. I hate to throw away a two year old TV and buy another one.

Find the root cause of the issue - Cheap Dynex TV from Best Buy

Don't repeat...

You can always use external speakers you just have to intercept the sound from the cable box or whereever.

I will not buy another Dynex or another Element. Both of these I use in bedrooms and they don't get used much. Seems like very little use for the sound to have gone out.

Dewayne, as long as you have a separate A/V receiver, then your TV should not have anything to do with sound. Just consider the TV to be a monitor only. Run your sound directly out from the satellite/cable box, DVD player, etc, into the A/V receiver, and run video out from the A/V receiver and into the monitor.

If you don't have an A/V receiver in that room, get one, or replace that TV.

Let me know if I can swing through and help with something.

I have Crown on Coke in full supply at Butch & Cookie's when you can come over. I'll even fire up the old truck just for shits and giggles.

Jared, if I get a receiver, I'll have to buy speakers, yes?

you can get one of those home theater in box deals, that comes with speakers. Otherwise, if you have speakers laying around, you should be able to use those with a receiver. Unless the speakers or receiver require the use of one of those stupid propietary plugs.

I don't have speakers or a receiver. I'm not opposed to buying something. Suppose Best Buy has the home theater in a box? This is just in the bedroom. The TV is only on in the morning while I'm getting ready for work. And usually a football game so I don't miss anything if I have to go to the bathroom

Best Buy has them, as does Frye's. I'd look on Craigslist too. Probably save some cash going that route.
