Netflix and Blu ray's

Got a PS3 for xmas, and was about to activate the Blu Ray option on my Netflix account. Before i do, does anybody get blu rays thru netflix? Do they have enuf of a supply for Blu Ray movies or is their always a "long wait" for any new release movie. I ran into this prob back when i had HD DVD's from them, it was nearly impossible to actually get an HD DVD.

Depends on the number of disks you have out at a time.

I have Blu on my netflix and usually don't have too much of a wait on most BD titles.

Is is possible to stream BD movies through the PS3, or you have to wait for them in the mail?

Netflix will send you a free disc to activate your PS3 for online streaming, if you have an account with them.

On some new releases there sometimes is a wait period for Blu-ray. It just depends on the popularity of the title. Like right now in my queue, it says "Very long wait" for Paranormal Activity Blu-ray because it was a very popular flick. To make profits they only buy an X amount of Blu-ray titles for each distribution center. The disc per customer ratio is very disproportionate on Blu-ray titles due to their higher costs. However, usually there isn't a problem with the wait times, shipping, or streaming. Netflix has been good to me thus far.

And I have already streamed two movies that indicated HD in the quality bar. One of them was a movie called "Eden Log". And it looked excellent. However, I also have FIOS 25 / 15 plan.

Somebody with 3 Mbps down DSL won't get the same picture quality. Because according to my router logs it pulls down around 8 Mbps of data when it streams. It fills the buffer in the player device and pauses until the buffer gets close to being depleted. Then it downloads another big block of data. People with small broadband throughput, the auto negotiation performed when it retrieves data compresses the hell out of the data stream to accommodate your limited bandwidth capability. And the PQ in those cases looks awful with a lot of macro blocking.
