FIOS Users... set top box on every TV?

I've got a small 32" in our guest bedroom and will probably have another in our kiddo's room in a year or two... does Verizon still have a small box that isn't a full set top box I can use for something like this until I can get full distributed video setup throughout our house. Just need what comes OTA for these rooms.

Other option is an HD ant in the attic for rooms that don't need a STB.

Does the TV have a digital tuner? If it does you can just run the coax to the tv without the STB and you should get the basic channels.

As of several months ago....

For Verizon
HD = Their gay DVR
SD = Their cheaper STB

I'm not aware of anything smaller right now.

They should still offer a digital adapter for $4/mth, this is per tv btw. It will allow you to get all the channels up to the capability of the tv, so if your tv only goes to 99, that's all you get. Keep in mind that (unless prices have changed) a regular STB will only run you $6/mth. A little savings

Wrong, HD does not equal DVR. Here is the price list as I recall with all the units available. All DVR's are HD though

Multi room DVR $20/mth
single DVR $16/mth
HD STB $10/mth
STB $06/mth
Digi Adapter $04/mth

Cable Card $03/mth (can be a bitch to try and get one though)

You can actually buy the motorola dct-700 that fios uses for about $50, sometimes less if you search a little harder. But its worthless because fios is encrypted and then you would have to pay to get it programmed.

Cool, the wife was told the DVR was required and when I looked I must've missed the HD STB. Got Tivo w/cable card now so it has been awhile anyway.

FIOS TV would be perfect if they had a decent DVR to go with it. That's another thread though.

Interesting on cablecard... I'll need that whenever hauppage finally releases their cablecard/win7 tuner.

back when I used to sell it my buddy and I were knocking in a NOOF neighborhood in Keller, this guy was so excited to finally have FIOS, he bought 2 Tivo HD XL's, that's a $1k on Tivo's lol. I will agree that the STB's and DVR's are crap, but 'supposedly' they have something in the works. They were telling us that over a year before I quit though. So don't cross your fingers.

Can i get a link on this? I have one of their tv tuner's in my win7 pc right now, haven't bothered setting it up because I think I'd lose my on demand functionality etc.

What would be really neat is if they interacted (i.e. multiroom dvr type functionality) with Tivos. I'd lease 2 right off the bat since I don't want to drop the coin on another Series3.
