Problems with car SD head units?

I don't see many SD-capable head-units that aren't generally being pushed by the cheaper brand-names.

I know there are some decent Clarion/Blaupunkt units, by why aren't they more widely used? I use SD cards for everything and would prefer to in my car if possible.

Anyone have any experiences with the technology?

Thanks

My guess is that for each technology, the manufacturer has to pay to license it. The cheap brands don't care and don't pay so they put everything under the sun on them. I am not aware of a major brand using SD cards. Also, in different countries, different technology sells or does not sell. In japan, minidisc was big so alpine for years had lots of models with minidisc but none in the U.S.

Until more music comes out on SD cards then I doubt many of the manufacturers are going to bother

That is like saying "when more music comes out on USB they will offer USB on headunits." No music is offered on USB (afaik) but lots of major brand headunits have USB.
