Best digital camera?

I'm looking to buy a new digital camera but don't know shit about them or have really ever messed with them.

Just need something small that takes good clear pics and I want to stay under $300.

I have been eye balling this one and it's sound like what I am looking for. I know there are people on here that know a great deal about this stuff.

I like Canon camera's. I have had one for a number of years (2.0 megapixel if that telss you anything about it's age), and it has survived a lot of abuse! I like a better zoom capability, this one is nice looking and has 10 X optical zoom. The digital zoom is amazing, it can take a picture and make it look like you are standing next to a football player on the field, and you are in the nosebleed section!

Mine uses 4 AA batteries, and it can take a shitload of pictures before they need to be replaced. I actually got some rechargable ones, and the fast charger for it too, but Everyready AA's last very well in it.

Cool, thanks for all the info.
I'll probably go pick one up after work tomorrow, Best buy has them on sale right now too.

As far as rechargeable batteries....IMO, pick up some Sanyo Eneloop batteries. Best rechargeables, hands down:
