Surround sound issue....need some help

Ok so Im having some issues here and maybe im not understanding how this works.
I just bought a Reel RSW1012 Subwoofer and put it on my setup. Which is just some cheap Receiver with some Samsung Components.
What im running into is that I can hit surround sound mode whether its theatre, live, outdoors, hall or whatever and i have this weird echo sound.

Now if i choose Dolby Digital Pro Logic it kills my subwoofer but i do get sound out of the components front and rear.

The only way i get the subwoofer on with good sound is just on Stereo.

This is driving me crazy. I just want to watch a freakin movie with all my speakers!!!

Help !!!

Does your receiver have a "test" menu option where it sends a signal to each speaker? Does the sub make a deep humming noise if it can test?

Are there any switches/dials on the sub, or a digital menu? Maybe it is not set up right?

Also, make sure the cable/cord is plugged in real good, I had mine sorta loose when I moved it and it made some awful noise!

They've done studies you know.... 60% of the time, it works every time

yes it has a test button and every single speaker makes a sound including the sub with its rumble. and there are a few switches on the sub, on off, 0 and 180v(which I have no idea what that is for) and the volume and frequency knobs.

I'm no expert on the settings by any means, but try everything in the middle. Are any of them all the way to one side? Does one say phase or anything like that?

What is your input source when you're having these issues? What is the gain on the subwoofer set at and the frequency? How did you connect the subwoofer to the receiver? Through the LFE out? 0 and 180 is the phase. You should hear the sub either way it is set.

If you want some instant help, get in front of your receiver and call me at 214-205-1287. If you're not pressed for time, there are a few questions that need to be answered.

Well on the Dolby Digital Pro Logic setting it gives you the options for F C and S. i didn't know what any of that meant well that's front, center and rear. Somehow i had the Center and S off and the front was set to Large. Well he walked me through that then even help me figure out how to set up the frequency on my sub matched to what frequency my components were. It sounds amazing now.

so again thanks to Nick!!!
