alternator

I have 2 alpine type R 12's and right now im running a sony xplod amp which puts out about 190w rms @ 2 ohms, and my speakers call for 250-500w rms @ 2 ohms.

so i need to upgrade my amp, but with the small amp in it now the lights dim when the bass hits even at 2500 rpm.

i need to do a big 3 upgrade, and add a few extra ground wires, and i need to get a bigger alternator, right now i think im at 70-75 amps (2000 civic Ex (d16y8 vtec))

but i cannot find a bigger one anywhere for this car. I am thinking i need around 160 amps and ill be safe.

Im wanting to get the alpine amp 500w Rms x 1 @ 2 ohms, and run my subs at 250w rms x 2 @ 2 ohms.

So where do i find alternators? I have googled and came up short. so help please!

and how much would i benefit by changing my battery to an optima yellow top?

There in Irving if they don't list it they can do it just give them a call. I have a 200 amp from them that has been on my car for 5 years no problems at all.

I've had their 275 amp one on my Sonoma for a year and a half, works great and fit like stock. A whole lot easier than the massive freakin Kinetic battery I put in.

Sweet! They have a 250 amp for my Explorer with a lifetime warranty for half the price of some other places I've looked at.

Yeah you are buying directly from the manufacturer, not 2nd or 3rd hand. I think AAMP is also local but they are expensive and don't have anything with an internal regulator.

If you mean the Stinger alternators, I think they are built locally but not sold locally. I have had good luck with Amp Tech (Revolution technologies) in Ft Worth too.

Another idea you may want to consider, is to add a capacitor, so that when the Bass sucks all the juice at once, it can take it from the capacitor instead of dimming all the lights.

Well crap. The one with a lifetime warranty for $250 doesn't fit my truck after all, even though the ad said it did.

The one for my truck is $400 with a one year warranty.

Phooey!

Ya, they wanted $500 for one, but this place is local, and I thought I was gonna get a smokin' deal and a lifetime warranty. Oh well.

i heard caps dont really do much, like said above they are just band aids, i want to be able to support all the power, instead of covering it up.

Just pulled the trigger on a 250 amp from Bill at Alterstart.

I hope I notice a difference.
