so i need a digital convertor box...

i have a 50'' dlp and to my knowledge it does not have a built in digital tuner, so in feb my shit will go blank, lol. i don't have cable/satellite because i'm not at home a lot and when i am i either play some ps3, watch a movie or watch the news. i saw this on woot just now, would this be a good deal and worth it? i'd imagine that i'd have to buy some hd cables but that's okay.

http://www.woot.com/

Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick
$59.99

if a better deal could be found...please post up where or how to get it. thanks

This is for a computer though, right? How will this help your TV?

that would work for a computer that is hooked up to your tv. otherwise no.
you need a digital converter box.

post your tv's model number. it probably has an ATSC tuner if it's a dlp tv.

Before you buy anything, the local stations are all doing tests today. At 6:25pm and 10:25pm, if your tv isn't picking up 4, 5, 8, or 11, then you'll need something.

you do realize the government is handing out free $40 coupons for a digital converter box? the set top box will cost you less than $10 with the government coupon.

Do you not have cable or satellite?
I may be wrong, but I believe this will only effect you if you are still using an antenna for your local stations..

10 bucks says your tv has a built in ATSC (digital) tuner and you do not need a digital converter box. you plug an antenna in to your tv and you should be able to watch OTA (over the air) channels in digital/HD.

It should work with your cable or satellite service

where do you live? the further north you go the harder it is to pick up digital signal.

1. upgrade from bunny ears to fish bone antenna if you can not pick up digital easily. (have one for sale if you are interested) if you dont have a room (attic) for fish bone antenna get a powered bar style antenna.

2. make sure you setup your tv to search for HD/digital signals (these channels are like 4-1, 4-2, 5-1, 8-1... etc. instead of the standard 4/5/8) and test the reception strength. if it works disable analog.

3. have a beer and enjoy what you have been missing for no reason!

They did have HD ready DLPs. He should know if he did have a digital tuner if he uses the local channels. He would go to 8.1 8.2 when he is surfing the channels.

I am not going to bet my dick on it though.

looked it up real quick. its not a DLP tv, its a crt projection tv. its a 540p unit, up to 1080i.

it does not have a digital tuner built in. use the government $40 and go get you a digital converter box.

That is an HDTV-ready TV. That means it has an analog tuner. You will need to get the set top box I told you about earlier with the $40 government coupon.
