sub and amp combo

So i jsut bought a 1800 watt sub and a 1200 watt amp and i dont want to destroy the sub cause i heard under powering the sub can destroy it. So before i put it in, is that a good combo or should i go buy a different amp? And another question, will that combo be extremely loud cause the guy i bought it from said it shook his windows....

There is a lot more to this question than you have posted.

What type of car? Hatchback or not?

Details on amp, sub, type of box (sub should dictate this for the most part)

Type of deck you are hooking this upto?

if the amp is advertised as xxxx then most likely it wont ever hit xxxx unless you paid a decent amount for it.

What type of wiring are you planning on running? The more power means to be safe you need to run thicker gauge wiring (ie 4 gauge) and plenty of inline fuses to ensure you car doesnt burn to the ground or cause equipment damage.

If you fire it backwards it will stop your car, and no need for brakes.

I doubt you only paid $2 for it, you're just trying to save face.

What the fuck is a "standard 12" sub box" ???? Ported? Sealed? Cubic Feet?

Either way, you bought a big pile of shit. Oh, and just because a setup will "shake the windows" doesn't make it worth a shit.

Should of gone with JL Audio, old school Fosgate, MB Quart, old school Kicker Comp, etc.

It will work better than your brakes.

You guys act as if there are no subs made to handle 1800 watts (or more). There are.

That said, I doubt this cat has one. I also doubt he has an amp that does 300x4.

I know this, I am just doubting his radioshack subwoofer has the capability.

you should put the port facing the rear of the car so the air will propel your car and make it faster!

similar setups have added at least 40HP with the proper box
