Any of you nerds into FTA?

If so, what's your setup?
What switches are you using (if any)?
Are there any good places local to buy multiswitches like 4x1 or 8x2?

Do a search. I've seen a few people on the board that are doing this, but it's been a while.

Don't listen to me. I'm drunk.

EDIT: I'd ask Tim, if I were you (Clockwork). He seems to be one of the more knowledgeable about this type of stuff.

I just got back from a smoke break. What happened?

I haven't really messed with my FTA since the power supply inside went to shit. I did have a Pansat 3500SD, a modified DirecTV oval dish with an aftermarket LNB holder and a little disq 4 way multiswitch.

The FTA receiver usually ships with a multiswitch, but you'll have to find a dish. There is a lot to read and I don't know everything there is to know, but I learned everything from www.future-fta.info It has been down a lot lately because they are upgrading servers, but there is also ftalife.com and several others that have great forums to read. There isn't much to it, but it is difficult (for me at least) to get started.

cbrjames recently got a set-up going (I think)

I know someone with a Captiveworks cw-700 with usb receiver. He runs a DN 500 dual lnb dish. Works like a charm. He will probably go with a Sonicview when he decides to start testing HD.

Buying dogs kills.

Yes. Dish network works best though...out of the two.

I bought the new SonicView SV360 Elite... dual tuner PVR but you have to use an external HDD for it. No biggie.

I'll probably get it all finished tomorrow and will report back.

Dish.

The easiest setup to use is the dish 500.

I have a Pansat 1500 (1700) and a 6000. I haven't had them hooked up at the new house yet. I'll likely do it a little later this summer. It's pretty easy if you read up on it.

Damn, for having questions about it, you made short work of getting it done. What does your set-up include? Where did you get the info from?

I am going to try and repair my dead Pansat box this weekend. I discovered a few cheap ways of getting it back up again.

Depends on where you are. I wouldn't mind helping you out. Shoot me a PM.

Clockwork,
I had done my research. Was kinda just looking to see what everyone else was using and how they liked it. I have the new Sonicview 360 Elite dual tuner PVR with an external 500Gb Western Digital on it. And I usually don't waste time getting things done.

Momo,
I'm only picking up two birds right now, but all pr0n, all PPV, all movie channels, locals, etc. I get it all. If my receiver were an HD receiver, those channels I'd get too. But I didn't want an HD setup.
