you can do it but its not as easy as if you had an after market radio. what your going to need is called a line inverter. it changes speaker wire to rca. your going to have to tap into the sound of the rear speakers to get a audio signal to the amp. its not going to be the best audio sound but at least you got a system i guess. i would just buy a radio. way easier install an better sound.

at least on an s2000 theres the flip up cover on the cd player to hide the single din deck. i might just put a double din screen in it and call it a day.

Another option is you can get a signal processor that cleans up the factory signals and lets you expand your system with amps, etc. Its nice since it does the initial calibration to get a clean starting point, then you can make adjustments from there, and you get to keep the factory look.

I'm using this one, and I'm really happy with it

Alpine's has a new one out, and JL's clean sweep has been out for quite a long time.

Interfaces are for people who want to keep the factory nav, keep their steering wheel controls, keep their factory satellite radio, keep factory changer, keep factory data center in radio, etc, etc. but still want to replace the speakers and add amps and subs for the best sound.

I had a 02 Passat for a while and it had a 7-volt system in it, I needed a line output converter and a wire going to the ignition to turn the amp on, that was all. A 10" Toby Sheriff sounded ok with a stock headunit, wasn't the best but it was decent.
