home studio/recording guys

What are y'alls setups, and what programs are you using?

I'll show your president the same respect you showed mine.

right now I'm just running everything through my MicroKorg, a standalone Firewire MIDI interface and a few M-Audio USB 1/4-XLR boxes and then running it all through my computer using Pro Tools 7. I also build loops in FruityLoops on my computer or Soundtrack Pro on a buddy's Mac (much preffered).

all of that is sitting down in a cheap makeshift soundbox which is also sitting next to my drums which are cordoned off in their own little semi-sound suppressed box.

it's cheap, but fairly effective. then again, I haven't had any time to screw around with it lately

i'll probably transport everything but the drums down to school to jam with my roommate.

My dad got all of Johnny Marshall's pro-tools stuff from Marshall Sound Design when Johnny upgraded last year. The equipment at his house has recorded Damage Plan, Pat Green, Cory Morrow, and more than a few other folks. Want me to holler at him for you?

Give me a dollar.

i'm old school give me a freakin 8 track portastudio analog I'm just now looking into the digital world. For just jams its gotta be something that can record atleast 4 tracks at once for me. I prefer 8 at once.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

2 stereo tracks is more than enough for just recording for yourself and what not. you dont need stereo in any of the tracks because nearly everything uses a mono 1/4 jack anyways...

just look at craigslist and pick up some stuff on there. i am constantly seeing some great portable Roland recording stations going for cheap. The easiest and cheapest way would be to buy a good quality M-Audio sound card for your computer and record that way... the sonic improvements of high end firewire boxes dont really become noticable unless you go all out and buy all the expensive gear.

as far as software goes, Pro Tools is used pretty often but i prefer Ableton Live. Great shit!
