92" of pure tv bliss

so i got my new setup mostly finished... just need a screen and a bit more cable management. oh yea.... AND FURNITURE! hell, i may even add some curtains to fight off any remaining natural light.

i went with a mitsubishi hc1500 720p dlp projector.
coupled that to my directv hd box, onkyo upconverting dvd player and computer. all the long cables (hdmi and vga) and mounts came from monoprice of course.

i added this to my existing audio setup:
harmon kardon avr 525
infinity il40 fronts
infinity il10 rears
infinity alpha37 center
entra sub 2

even tho the pictures do it no justice, here are a few "screen shots":

masters tournament mid-day. this is as bright as the room will ever get and my dumbass left the flash on!

here is a shot from batman begins. its night time so there is no light seeping into the room anymore. i turned the flash off and put it in action mode to try to stop the stupid camera from getting blurry.

I cant tell, are you projecting on the wall or a screen. I bought the Epson 1080 and got most of it put up on Saturday. I'll try to take some pics of mine.

just the wall for now. i was waiting to get everything mounted first to take final measurements. i have an old 80" white screen but its 4:3 and thats too small!

im pretty amazed with the picture even on the wall. the paint is a tan/beige. i cant wait to see it on a nice screen.

im still trying to pick if i want a white screen (1.3 gain) or grey screen (.9 gain). i did manage to rule out the high contrast screens. that glass bead they use makes the screen shimmer. either way im ordering from htdepot. an electric screen 92-96" for about 200 bux that gets pretty good reviews is hard to beat.

I went with a 92 high contrast. The screen is acoustically perforated so I could mount the center channel behind the screen. I havent done that yet, I am trying to research in wall speakers to see which ones to get.

I'm a cheapass and built my own screen. Four pieces of wood and 4 "L" brackets and blackout cloth stretched over it, then painted with behr silverscreen. $30, 2 hours of work, and done. Now that I know what I'm doing I'll put a black velvet border on it someday.

well if you're 7ft away, how far would the projector be?

if you are worried about being too close to a giant picture you can alway move your projector forward or zoom out. you pretty much determine the size and location you want.

i can make mine go around 100" picture or as small as 70" just by setting the lens. i did 92" cause it is a popular screen size and it fits between my tower speakers.

It would probably be 7 1/2 ft away if that, I am right on the back wall now, its a small room turned into my little game/media room. Even 70" would be to big I think. I don't have a TV in this room yet as I just moved in but was planning to buy a 42" because of the size of this room and wanting to get the correct inch tv/projector for the amount of space I have
