Props to Autosound and EW

This morning I had my system installed there... I had an appointment and they immediately took the car in to start.

I had a sub, and, and line out converter installed so I could maintain my stock navigation setup/head unit and everything is flawless. The price was more than fair for what was done and he even aired up my front tires as he saw they were a bit low

The install is super clean and I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning! If you guys need any car audio/video I would highly recommend you sending a PM to EW on the board.

Also thanks to Tiny Tim for the deal on the used equipment... everything was as described and the transaction went without problems.

I love it... everything is turned down pretty far and it has plenty of bass. I guess if I get bored I can crank it up

Well I don't remember what kind of car you had, but I know what Jon had and it would be enough to destroy almost any car. Good luck

04 Jaguar X-Type... so far about 25lbs of dynamat in the trunk and will probably put alot more through out the car.

The amp is turned all the way down right now. I want to turn it up a bit to see what it does, but i have to figure out how to fold down my back seat first and I am stumped... lol

If you want to come by one day I can help you set your gains with a meter. I have the test tones and everything.

That sounds real good to me. I gotta first do some googling and see how I get the dang back seat down. Until then I can't adjust the amp.

I can adjust some sub power at the head unit, but not that much.

EW any idea how the seat went down? lol

I don't know but the installer had it folded down. Buttons on the rear deck to release it?

How well does that 500/1 push it? I'd figure for that w7, it would need a 1000/1. All the ones I've seen have at least 1g going to it. Not knocking or anything, just wondering.

I'm not audio savy or anything, but I'm pretty sure those JL's put out that power regardless of the load you put on them. I know impedence and ohm are different things. Don't know about the impedence.

Not with that setup it doesn't.

Anyway, I bet that 500/1 gets that sub moving just fine.

You're right. I believe they make the same power at 1.5-8 ohm. And I think that W7 is 3 ohm.

Another plus - that 500/1 will make it's rated power (and then some) at anything over 11.5 volts. A lot of amps only make their power at 14.4v, and really start to fall off when it drops lower than that.

I was worried about the 500/1 pushing the sub at first as well. I bought the setup used, but figured it was worth a shot.

I spoke with EW on it and he said it would make some noise! The car has leather and from what i've seen it makes it a bit harder for the sound to come through the trunk.

The amp is turned all the way down and at a decent volume level it'll make your hair move. Also during some parts of certain songs it makes it hard to inhale...

It has clean bass all around and when it hits looow it sounds great!

I still have 2 stock 6 or 8" subs on the rear deck. I'm thinking about removing them as the JL will make plenty. While doing that will open the space between the trunk and cab, i'm hoping for more sound to my ears.

I would. You don't need them anymore. Besides, if they are setup free air (no enclosure) then that W7 is probably having it's way with them, literally moving the cones and working against what they are trying to do anyway.

Most electrical systems will not like the 1000/1 and putting 400W more power on the driver will not make very much difference in output.
