I test tone calibrated my system with my SPL meter to 85 dB with reference volume being 105 dB. This sub puts out thunderous bass and is clean at high volumes without distortion. It's a fairly decent musical sub as well, but it's more for HT. It hits pretty damn hard considering it's working in 6,100 cubic ft. of air space.
Movie test settings: Master volume at -12 dB, sub crossover 120 HZ, sub gain 40%, and receiver sub speaker level +2
Movie#1 Finding Nemo
(The infamous Darla tapping the fish tank scene!)
Results: This will hit you in the chest and rattle everything that's not bolted down. Brutal scene!
(The server room scene at the end of the movie)
Results: Could not watch the whole scene at -12 dB. This scene needs a disclaimer before she opens the door.
Movie#3 Snakes on a Plane DTS
(Explosive cabin decompression and pulling up the plane just before it hits the water)
Movie#4 Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix
(Scene where Mrs. Umbridge discovers their hidden training location and starts blasting the wall with her magic wand)
Results: Well, this one is a ground pounder. Just look at the waterfall
on this Harry Potter scene.
A couple of side by side comparison pictures with my old 8" 75Watt sub.
