Sub Feedback?

I've decided to go with one 10" sub in my 04 Vert, I'm considering these 2:

Kicker Solobaric L5
or
Kicker CompVx

I just want some nice all around bass, I'll be running the Kicker KX350.2 bridged to one 4ohm load.

Anyone ever have either on of these?

Thanks

i have now heard 3 solo L5s and think they all sound like complete shit...

CVRs are great for an inexpensive good amount of bump. a CVX is probobly going to be more than "nice all round bass" either one of those subs will be greatly underpowered with that amp. a 12 CVR should be fine for the average listener. if you want a bumpin system then sure, upgrade to the cvx but also upgrade your amp or you'll blow your sub from amp distortion.

if you want good sounding bass, a rockford fosgate 10p3 is right in the CVXs price range, will work perfectly with the amp, and will sound a hella lot better than the cvx

I'm not looking for competition style bass just some nice overall, I've heard some negavtive things about the L5's sounding distorted.
I may consider the CVX then. Rockford's, some of them sound really good..heard a few.
My kicker amp has been great, I had it pushin one 12" Kicker CompVR all-day-long with no probs. Thanks for the info

How good do 10's really sound? I've always had 12's b/c I like bass, and listen to many types of music. Can I get a 10 to hit that good and sound good at the same time?

Sure, if it's in the proper enclosure with sufficient clean power. Obviously more woofer will play louder assuming it's in the right enclosure and fairly efficient but a pair of 10s in a ported box with tons of power will play plenty loud for nearly any listener.

For the longest time I had a setup with just a single 8" woofer for a sub and it sounded fine for normal listening. Obviously it wouldn't rattle your teeth out but it was way better than most factory setups.

My home theater has a single 10" subwoofer and it sounds great btw

There's no replacement for displacement!

Eh, not really though. Some tens are monsters.

that pretty much sums up what i was trying to say but in first person opinion. if you want, like you said CLEAN OVERALL good sounding system, then DONT get kicker subs. they are entry level SPL subs and are meant to be LOUD not clean. this is why i suggested rockfords b/c they are in your price range as well as more for your application (at least how you describe)

12s over all have much deeper bass response but you can get a good quality 10 to sound just as good as an inferior 12 inch sub. 12s are good for mostly rap... anything else like techno or rock i prefer the sound of 10's or even dual 8's b/c the recoil time is faster for faster bass hits. good for faster genres, but generally speaking can go as "low" as a 12. since techno and rock generally have higher bass frequencies this is irrelevant though.

cheaper is better isn't it? How cheap do you need to be? You can get a great JL sub for 200 bucks.

Damn, ya'll talk like Kicker is as good as Thump or Pyle! LOL
I've always had great sounding systems with Kicker Subs, everyone has their own. My last 2 sets of CompVr's hit hard and sounded clean, I understand JL Audio is great but I'm just checking my options.

These are the one's I'm considering:
KICKER CVX10-D4 10"
KICKER CVR 10"
JL AUDIO 10W3V3 V3 10" 4 OHM
ROCKFORD FOSGATE T110D4 POWER 10"

I'm only pushing about 300-350Watts to whichever 10" I choose.

Kicker to me has always been for the teen aged kid that just wanted to be louder then the kid next to him and didn't care about quality.

pretty much... lol, some of their stuff really isnt that bad. but once you start spending $250+ on a sub, there is much better stuff in that price range. i would prolly only buy a cvr just cause thats a pretty damn good sounding entry level speaker.

those are all great subs. the w3 will be the best sounding with the fosgate closely behind. go to a cartoys or some other store and give them a listen to find out which timbre you like. DONT BUY FROM CARTOYS/BEST BUY!!!! EW is a real cool guy as well if your ever in the BFE area and carries JL stuff and maybe that fosgate.
