For every person that says that, you will probably have 5 that say the opposite.

Bluray ftw!

Well here is a good deal for the HD-DVD folks. Planet Earth shipped for $24.98, use code EML2008 to take the additional $5 off.

HD DVD is going Buh-bye, so buy them while you can... Personally, I'm still in the stone age w/ CRT TV's, so I don't care much (yet)

Well, enjoy it while you can. I'm in the same boat as you, two HD players and soon nothing to watch on them.

HD-DVD uses better compression technology in most cases; BD has more space. BD won due to better marketing and $$ from Sony to film companies and et al.

The best way to compare would be to get a movie that is in both BluRay and HD-DVD and compare scenes. Some movies just look better than others, and depending on the age of the movie, plus the technology used to transfer the movie to the new High Def discs can vary from studio and from movie to movie.

I was secretly pulling for HD-DVD but in early February when everyone was ditching them I bit the bullet and picked up a PS3.

The main reason they won is because no one is copying blu-ray movies yet.

They have not been cracked, so companies don't get their movies stolen.

People were ripping/downloading hd-dvd movies and then burning them to blu-ray. lol.

No, the main reason they won was money. Sony pushed HDDVD out with pushing the Blu Ray TV ad's.
I'm not knocking them for anything. They did what they had to do and it paid off for them. But it was very rare to ever see a HD DVD ad on the TV. But there was a Blu Ray ad on every 15 minutes.

HD DVD was, in my opinion, the better choice of the two. I own both formats so I can speak from experience on this. I'll keep my HD DVD player, and stock up on HD DVD movies when I can find them.

Check that other thread in this forum. $15 a pop, and it's a halfass decent selection.

Yeah, I saw that. But my money is going in other places at the moment. Hopefully, it will pay off for me in the long run. DVD's are on the back burner right now
