I like JBL and Boston Pros. The Bostons sound so clean.

I've had several different set-ups when it comes to subs (if that's the speakers you are referring to).

It's all gonna depend on which series, what size, the amount of power you'll be using, and the desired sound.

My 3 10" JLAudio 10w0's are very rich and smooth, but can barely handle the power I'm throwing at them. You could always go with a better sub series from JL. I think the w0's are very low end.

For raw chest pounding bass, you could try Rockford Fosgate's Punch series woofers. I ran two Punch 12's with a measly Punch 40 amp and it hit HARD but wasn't as smooth.

Then again, all of my knowledge is at least 3 years old, as I've traded that hobby for others. The stuff has probably changed for the better dramatically since then.

Just go to a good stereo shop and listen to some stuff yourself. Remember, it will usually sound even better in your car.

Cliff Design are really awesome
Orion NT are badass
Boston Pro's are good
Focal's I hear are badass.

All of these are expensive. It depends on how much you want to spend on which speakers to go with.

Bose does not make aftermarket car speakers (thank God!). JL Audio makes excellent mids, highs and woofers. MB Quart also is an excellent speaker company. We carried Infinity for a very short period of time and were not satisfied with their entry/mid level products.
Go listen to speakers in your budget, in a car if you can, and buy what you like the sound of.

Thumbs up

I've got Boston Rally speakers all around w/ a Rockford Punch 12" sub. The speakers are driven by a Clarion 440W amp and the sub is driven by a Kenwood 150W amp. The head unit is a Kenwood, I forget which model though.

I run Boston Pros up front (with a seperate component tweeter) and rear. The rear is a 3-way speaker since its more for filling the rear rather than go high dollar for something I would never hear the difference between. As a subwoofer I have a JLAudio 10W3 in a JLAudio stealthbox enclosure.

All in all, I'm running a 90x4 channels with a300 watt sub channel. It blows the Mach460 System out of the water and puts it in a different universe completely.

MB Quart, JL audio, Focal.

These I think are the three best brands I've heard. JL are probably the cheapest but by no means below par of the other two brands. I have 6.5" JL XR components and 5"x7" coax's in my 92' lx and I think they are the shit even if they are under-powered (using my Alpine CD player to run them until I get my JL 300/4) right now. MB quart and Focal will run you a pretty penny and their sound is definately worth the money I think (just don't have that much money to blow).

Depends on your budget but JL should do you right, talk to EW he'll hook you up.

Focal and MB Quart are very nice speakers. I have MB Quart 5x7's in my Mustang, but in the front I have Eclipse Piont Source 5 1/4's. The Eclipse are a VERY nice speaker for the money. Dynamic Audio in Garland and Josephs in Mesquite have them. Dynamic is cheaper though. For 6 1/2's my friend paid $150, I paid $120 for my 5 1/4's. they have a soft dome tweeter which doesn't get as harsh at high volume like speakers with metal tweets.

I've used the $450 a set Quarts, $400 Diamond Audio, $500 Canton's, $200 Blaupunkts, $200 Rockford's and Sony speakers. The Quarts sounded the best for my application but also had the best amplifier and head unit running them. I currently have some $99 JBL 6.5s with a 55w per channel Hifonics amp driving them. They sound fine for most music but I can tell a difference between these and those Quarts I had with 120 watts of Xtant power pushing them. As far as subs go Rockford Fosgate has always been right at the top but it seems that Kicker's solobaric series is the way to go now.

I've had Polks in the F-150 and TownCar...they sound nice for the price.

Boston's sound great as do Diamond Audio...

In the Z-71 I have Kappa plates in the back and am trying to decide between JL 3 way seperates or just a set of 6.5's.

MB Quarts are nice, but JL is cheaper and better. Focal's are great but cost entirely too much for us regular peeps.

HitmanX, how can you say JL is cheaper and better than Quart. I sell both. Each has their place but the most expensive set of JL 61/2 and tweets (XR650cxi) is $399. Quart has a $299, $550, $799, and $1500 set. Are you saying that the $399 JL's keep up with the $550+ sets? Sorry, no dice.
Every person likes a different kind of music and sound. If we all liked the same thing, there would only need to be one kind of speaker. Also, I would like to see the $399 JL's stand up to 200W x 2 RMS on them like the QSD Quarts do.

Not flaming, but your statement is wrong IMO.
