The Vizios look great when set up properly. I have seen a shitload at customer's homes and they look outstanding in HD.

I had one and the quality was ok. IMO up until the last few months, they were a great bargain, but I just bought a 50" 720p Samsung plasma w/ 15,000:1 contrast ratio for $1300. The same Vizio was a little more...

Mine was a 37" 720p lcd, and just wasn't up to par but was a great deal at $700. For my $$, I would rather spend an extra $200 and get a much better tv... but if you're looking for a great deal then it's hard to pass up the Vizio.

I'm in the process of buying new TV's for my house and my Mom's house... bought a 42" Panasonic Plasma last week... $997.00 with free shipping and no tax.

Still have about 4 more to buy, smaller ones... maybe a 32" and two 26s and maybe a 23".

I would consider a Vizio if the prices were good.

they look good when the settings are right. Most the ones you see at stores just have regular settings once you tweak them a bit they look great.

I got a 42" for Christmas and it fucking rocks. Not quite as crystal clear as my Dad's $5,000 plasma, but for 1/5th the price: unfuckinbelievable.

yes you can use it as a computer monitor..it will have a DVI or VGA or possibly both inputs on the back.

I think Vizio is great for the money, BUT you should keep your eyes open for good sales on other major brands like LG, Samsung, Sony, etc... You can sometimes find a better TV for almost the same price. When I was shopping about 6 months ago, the LG was $100 more than the Vizio (50" tv's).

I've had one for over a year and no issues. It looks very good, check out the reviews on www.avsforum.com , for a "value" LCD it's one of the best. I would recommend you adjusting the settings, there are several posts on avsforum on the proper settings. It will make an OK picture look great.

Yep, mine has an RGB connector as well as two HDMI. You can either use the RGB from your computer, or get a DVI to HDMI cable.

That about sums it up. Some people (stunter bob for example) have no clue what the fuck they are talking about.

Vizio is a good tv for the money. That being said, you can probably find a Samsung, Panasonic, LG, or Philips for around the same price if you look hard enough and catch a good deal.

I have a 50" Vizio Plasma and am pretty happy for the price. It's a 720p/1080i version which gets the price down a bit. I bought it at Sam's as well.... the pic quality looks fine w/ my DirecTV HD setup. Would a 1080p model be better? Absolutely, but that's apples and oranges.

did you compare them at the same store? Were they using the same inputs? Same dvd player? There are some places that dont even display nice HD stuff on their displays.
