You can get a 73" for $2200-2400. Ask any girl and they will tell you that another 8" would be fantastic.

Word.

I was at Fry's today looking at computers, and I passed the area where they have all of their big screen inventory. They must have had 20 of that same model TV you and I have (WD-73733) all stacked up like they were about to blow them out. I didn't have time to go back to the TV area to check on prices or anything, but it's worth taking a look at if someone is in the market for one. I really like my TV. Keep in mind that the deals in-store are almost always better than Fry's online deals. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for less than $2g.

Hrm, I might have to look and see what they have on sale.

So is a 73" really that much better than a 65"?

If you got a big room and need a big TV its nice. I wouldn't go putting it in some confined space though.

The living room isn't huge, that's why I was looking at the 65". Thats why I was asking if the extra 8" was worth it. I may just stick with the 65" unless the price is right on a larger unit.

Depends. I had a 65" for a long time and upgraded. It's noticeably bigger and just commands a crapload of attention when anyone walks in the room. If you are coming from something much smaller, a 65" will still seem really big anyway.

Costco has one that's a little better than the 65733, with the stand for $13/$1499. Not a great deal, but you get their warranty which is better and the stand.

You should have several options for the price you're wanting to stay under. I would recommend to stay away from the Mitsu 733 series, if you can help it. The Toshiba is alright, since they switched the bulb production in them, the original ones had tones of problems and one of the main reasons Toshiba is going away from producing DLPs.

Bah! You were right about the 65". But my 73" has been glorious! I found out that the green box problem is the satellite, btw. Thank goodness.

Grant, which TV is the one that you are referring to?

btw, I was just at Fry's looking at their TV's when the power in the store went completely out. I was standing in the back of a major store, in compete darkness. LOL! Some of the customers were starting to freak out. "It was an EMP!!"

I took it as a bad sign, and decided to look elsewhere. lol

That's what I figured from what you were saying. Glad it worked out. I'm also glad that 73" is working for you. If I hadn't been burned so bad by that series, I might have better things to say about it.

The 734 is a different story, it's got a lot of refinements that help it over the 733.

Red:

Costco stocks a similar version of the 65733/734, however they make them under a different model number. I guess as a special setup for their Costco partnership. Basically, if you get the Mitsubishi from them with the HDMI input up front, it's not a bad deal. You could probably do a little better online, though.
