Turntable???

For you youngsters out there...it's a device you put large 12" vinyl discs & listen to music

.....and my old one finally died.

I need a replacement & am looking for suggestions, ideas, whatever. And the occasional old fart remark.

Seriously, any comments if you still use one are welcomed.

Depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for audiophile builds or something more reasonably priced?

no need for the high end stuff. I've got a lot of vinyl that is not available on cd. I just like to fire up the turntable once in a while & adjust my attitude

Denon makes great stuff at affordable prices.

It comes with the tone arm, but you'll need to purchase the cartridge. You'll probably also need a preamp if you don't already have one. Don't skimp out on the cartridge either, get a good one. They have others that are cheaper if that's out of your price range.

Comes with a cartridge and built-in preamp, and is a bit lighter on the pocketbook.

When you do get a new turntable you need to convert those albums to a digital source. That way you can burn them to CD or an MP3 player and still get the "record" sound..

lol... for $700 you can get a brand new Technic that is gonna be the best turntable money can buy. if you only need something to play records on, just buy a used record player on craigslist or ebay. you shouldnt pay more than $50 for a basic player that will fit your needs. You can then buy a NEW cartridge. if you have valuable/fragile vinyl then buy a low wear needle. you shouldnt pay more than $40 for a very good needle. preamps are not necessary most of the time because common receivers have inputs made specifically for low level inputs such as a turntable or a microphone.
