Merry Christmas to me!

Bought me a couple of Christmas presents last week, and FedEx just brought them to the house today!

Yes, all of this is for bass with the HT system I think I have some issues

VTF3 HO is the main sub. This will take on all duties 50hz and below(this sub hits down to about 16hz )

The Turbocharger attaches to the VTF3 HO, and allows you to leave both 4" ports open on the main sub, and play down to 16hz pretty loud

MBM-12 will take on all of the mid bass duties, from 80hz down to 50hz.

This picture shows the size difference in the 3 main subs. The one on the left is my old one thats for sale, middle is the main sub, and the right one is the mid bass sub

This just shows the back of the same 3 subs above. Right is the old sub, middle is the main sub, and left is the mid bass sub.

Well, got a chance to play around with this set up a little today.

I haven't got a chance to fine tune it, but over all, it's awesome! The bass is DEEP! And I mean DEEP!!!! HSU supplied a test CD with the sub. It has some pipe organ music in one of the songs. I had the volume turned up about half of what I normally watch movies on, and I thought the windows were going to break This sub actually pressurizes the room, and you can feel it.

Still have quite a bit of fine tuning to do, to get all the bugs worked out. But I think after Christmas I'll get a chance to watch a good movie, and really put these subs through the works.

I played around with U571 a little yesterday. The depth charge scene is pretty impressive! Explotions are not so loud, but they punch you in the face!
I should get some time to get everything set up and fine tuned. I plan to play around a little and see if the MBM or my old sub(-3 MKII) sounds better with the VTF3 HO. Going to switch back and forth between the 2. I also need to play around with the placement of the subs.

Good night how big is your theater room?

Listen to my buddy, Jeff Bolton, from 6-9 AM Mon-Fri.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

Actual room isn't that large(15x20 with vaulted ceilings). But the house has an open floor plan that opens up to the kitchen(10x20 with 9' ceilings). All in all I have about 6000cu ft that the subs have to fill. With one sub, it sounded good, but not all that I wanted.

Right now, I have 3 subs. 2 are hooked up, and the third is sitting in the garage. Two of the subs are for low end, and the third is for mid bass. I'm going to tinker a bit, and see which combination of subs will sound the best in my room. Maybe I'll just buy a splitter, and run all three subs

Well, I'm not sure what I like now

Originally I had the MBM hooked up with the HO. It sounded awesome! But I decided to go ahead and play with all 3 subs today. Hooked up the -3 MKII with the HO, and it netted some DEEP base!

Set up #1
1-HO is hooked up, crossover set "in" and on 50-55hz.
2-Preamp crossover set at 80hz.
3-Hooked the MBM up. Crossover set to "out"

This set up sounds awesome! Good mids, and excellent deep base.

Set up #2
1-HO hooked up, and crossover set "in" and on 50-55hz.
2-Preamp crossover set to 80hz.
3-Hooked up -3 MKII,and set crossover to "out".

Still have some good mids, but this set up gave me quite a bit more deep base. I think my brain was rattling Just to give you an idea of how hard this set up hit, we have one of those stockings things hanging from the closet door knob. Decorative thing with bells on it. After firing up the -3 MKII and the HO together, the bells were ringing

I need to get a splitter so I can hook all 3 of the up at the same time. Man, I think I'm going to end up keeping all 3 subs

Not set up yet. I've got 2 of them set up, but not the 3rd. Waiting for the tree to come down, then I can arrange things a little better.

Well, I've finally got all 3 subs hooked up, and I've played around a little with them. I wish I had more time to spend with this project, but we have to work....right?

First impressions with all 3 subs were not good at all. Very boomy, and just too loud. No matter what I did, I couldn't seem to get it where I wanted. I talked with one of the people that has been helping me put this all together, and he recomended moving the subs around. man what a difference! I'm still playing with the final placement of the subs, but the overall effect is amazing! It's not loud, at least not what you'd think with running 3 subs. My goal with this was to feel the bass more than hear the bass.
We have a fake tree in the living room, I was playing my test track from U571(Depth charge scene), and the leaves on the tree were visually vibrating But it wasn't too loud at all. The subs are pressurizing the room with low bass, and less effort to produce loud bass. Make sense?

I've still got some bugs to work out with the system. As soon as I find my final placement of the subs, I'm going to start flattening out the response of them. I've purchaced a piece of equiptment to EQ the sub's only, and I hope to have it all set up and working by next week.

Nah, you have to remember I work a full time job for Southwest. My business money stays in the business. I don't dip into the Detailing funds for my personal hobbies.

Thanks for the compliment. I can't wait to have this all finished, although I don't think I'll ever finish it Been building on it for about 4 years now, after I finish the audio portion, I'll be looking into projectors and screens

Me too
But in a couple of years, we are planning on adding on to the house. My plan for now, is to build a new garage, and use the old garage as a dedicated HT room. But thats a long ways away

Wow dude, I'm impressed. You could probably doing the car detailing out of the house and then charge another 20-50 dollars for people to watch movies while they wait.

But yea I really need to set something up with you on getting my dad's car done now since its up and running. Nothing near as bad as my brother's car was . Just need a good buffing on it, its a 98 Lincoln town car and its black with 240K miles on it . You think I would still need to bring it to you or would you come out to my place?
