Anyone interested in a HT sub?

I'm kind of tossing around the idea of upgrading my sub once again, and curious if any of you guys are interested in buying my old one.

HSU VFT3 MKII
350 watts(1400 peak), can get down to 18hz. 12" woofer. Weighs in at 80 pounds. Demesions are 22" high, 15"wide and 23" deep.

This thing rocks big time! I'm just looking for a little more deep low end bass. The new one I'm looking at will get down to 16hz with over 500 watts of continuous power. My livingroom is open in a major way, vaulted ceilings, open wall to the kitchen, etc... I'm just looking to upgrade the the larger model.

Let me know, and we can work out the details. This thing was right at $800 new.

Actually, there are quite a few movies that get down that low. But if you don't have the sub for it, you'll never hear it(or rather feel it). And not just the porn either

I bet you Gone in 60 Seconds sounds freakin sweet on that.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

I pulled all of that info from AVSforums. I have quite a few of those movies, but not all of them(about 90%).

After about 16-18, you really can't hear anything below that, but you can feel it

I'd like to check your system out to see how good the sub (and the rest) sounds. I've got a pair of AR 315HO speakers with the subs built in. They each have 15" woofers with a 500 watt carver amp. They are suppose to go to 18Hz, but after hearing some of you talk about pitures falling off the wall, I kinda wonder if mine play as loud or low as they claim. I have noticed the blinds fluttering before when no apparent sound was coming out. That kind of tripped me out. But, I have never had a picture fall off of the wall or anything like that.

You are more than welcome to come and check it out. But the reason I am wanting to upgrade, is because this sub doesn't have enough low end punch(for me) in such a large open space. I've always had small to medium size livingrooms, and now with my open floor plan, I am wanting something a little bigger to really get it down low.

It still sounds amazing, but it a smaller space, it will be absolutely incredible, and will take pictures off of the walls

15x20, but it opens up to the kitchen, which adds another 10x20 room. So, this sub is trying to accomodate a 30x20 room with vaulted ceilings. a little too much room for this sub. It still sounds incredible, but I am a serious bass junkie when it comes to movies

A little OT, but has anyone ever seen a sub jumping w/ no sound coming out? (IOW, at a frequency too low to actually hear?) It's kinda cool looking....

Yeah, thats what my goal is with this. Pretty much anything under 16-18hz, you can't hear. But you will feel it

At one time, my plans were to build a sub for under the couch. That would be a good way to get the feeling of it.

you can add transducers to the underside of the couch for that full body vibration experience.

So what sub are you looking at? I bought the Sunfire Labs True Subwoofer years ago. Its an earlier model but its rated at ~2000 watts. Its pretty amazing that all that sound comes from an enclosure thats only about 1ft cubed.

Thats a hell of a sub in such a small package!

I ordered the HSU Research VTF 3 HO. I already have the Turbo add on for it, so I will mate the 2 together when it gets here. I also ordered their mid bass module. This is basically a sub for the mid range frequencies. This eases the requirements on the main sub, and actually adds a bit to the bottom end(since the main sub won't have to work so hard to handle all of the frequencies between 80hz and below).

So the MBM will handle frequencies between 80hz and 50hz, and the VTF3 HO with Turbo will handle everything from 50hz and below.

If I'm not happy with this set up, I will never be happy with anything

Here's the ad for my sub for sale. I am going to put it on Ebay and audiogon, so it should sell quickly.

I posted this in the classified ad, but thought I'd post it here also.

These are graph's showing how hard this sub hits in it's different mode's. DB vs Hz.

This is the graph for Maximum Output mode. Notice that it still hits pretty low even though it is in it's mode for maximum output.

Next is Maximum Extension mode. This is where this sub shows it colors. Notice how low it hits, even at higher DB's.
