Blu-Ray DVD Player suggestions

Title says it all.

Does anyone have experiance with the new players? I'm setting up my home theater room and could always use input. It's getting paired with a nice plasma so I'd prefer quality over store brand type of shit. I priced a Sony around $1000 so before I go get swamped with model numbers etc, anyone want to give me general guidance?

Thanks

just get a ps3...you'll have a blu-ray player and a game system for $500. they even have remotes for them, so i'm sure that you can make an "all-in-one" type remote work.

That's the other thing I am contemplating, I just didn't know if there was any differences between that and a standard BluRay player. I've got a fuckload of game systems which makes me unsure on adding another one to the mess of wiring with surround sound etc.

No 2 pager I hope, not a debate, just guide me to a couple good BR players and problem solved

It's just been a huge topic as of late and big old debates usually begin over it. LOL!

I second the PS3 recommendation.

You can use it as a game system. It's badass, just few games (so far).
Works great with Blu-ray movies and upconverts regular DVDs.
You can get a Bluetooth remote, which is very slick.
You can download updates as they come available.

Just buy the PS3. If you don't want the PS3, you can buy a regular Sony BD player for around the same price, get more movies included and you can also update it via the internet.

I got 10 with my PS3, but it was a black Friday thing.

The 5 I had to send in for were really lame. I had to pick one from each of five categories, and some of them I had never even heard of.

Good deal, I will check out some comparable players to the PS3 in price and see who offers what.

I second the PS3...

or get the Sony 500. The 300 doesn't do DTS-HD, if its important to you.

I have been holding out for the Samsung Dual Format player. It is definately going to be worth the wait. They have been delaying the release date for a while and Best Buy says they are expecting them around Jan. 15.

Samsung BD-UP5000

Never wrap it up, never pull out. Just grind up the morning after pill in her scrambled eggs at sunrise, she'll appreciate that you made her breakfast.

I just went through this about a week ago. Decided to go ahead and buy the PS3. It has been awesome so far. Picture quality is great, and the audio is pretty good also.

I wanted the Blu Ray player so I could have more movies. The Toshiba HD DVD player I have is awesome, but didn't have all of the movies that I wanted. Now I have both formats, and I could really care less who wins
